The Spirit heading west. The "Spirit of the Outback" heading east from Barcaldine to Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia.
I travelled on the train (then called the Midlander) as a kid and record it in different locations whenever I visit my home town - Barcaldine, Queensland. The reason is, I wonder how long the service will be supported by the Queensland Government, especially as the current rollingstock is at the end of its life - 30 years.
Now called the Spirit of the Outback, it has been a favourite with Australian and international travellers alike for 10 years, due to the social atmosphere onboard and the spectacular views afforded throughout the 24 hour journey.
The 1,300 km journey between Brisbane and Longreach offers a unique insight into the history and culture of early Australia.
The 'Spirit of the Outback' ventures through the heritage towns of Blackwater, Emerald and Barcaldine (home of the Worker's Heritage Centre) before arriving in Longreach, home to the famous Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame, Qantas Founders Museum and the Outback Heritage Centre.

Take during an organized walk with some friends. We met, to take some pictures of the various under ground stations here in Munich.
Goal was to take pictures of several stations within Munic. There is even an dedicated group on flickr, www.flickr.com/groups/u-bahn-muenchen/
For this trip, we decided on line U2, starting from the final stop Feldmoching towards main station. This photo, taken at the station Feldmoching is under exposed about 2 steps in order to highlight the open doors with LED stripes at the newer car models in Munich. Additionally, the station itself was lit a little bit on the dark side. Also recognizable, the windows of the train are covered with foil or treated somehow, because there is little light transmitting from the inside of the car.
A crowded passenger train can be seen leaving Dhaka with a burgeoning load of human cargo.

Thank you very much for the visits, faves and comments. Cheers.

At sunrise on the last day of the Christmas trip, a few hours were spent in Fieberbrunn, primarily to capture the TUI ski train, which never showed up. Anyway, here we see OBB locomotive 1144 121 with the 08:21 service from Innsbruck to Graz (IC515) on the bitterly cold frosty morning of the 7/1/23.
The railway station of Kelenföld was almost empty, when I arrived, only this impressive freight train was waiting for its departure to the direction of the railline Nr.40. It was headed by 2 Aseas of the Train Hungary, moreover the shiny 704th Asea helped on the rear as a pusher.

Více info o dole a provozu:
V povrchovém dole San Cristobal se těží zinko-stříbrný a zinko-olověný koncentrát. Důl vyprodukuje přibližně 1300 metrických tun koncentrátu zinku a stříbra a 300 tun koncentrátu olova a stříbra denně, za rok to dělá přibližně 600 000 vytěžených tun koncentrátů.
Plná souprava vlaku musí z dolu do přístavu urazit přes 600 kilometrů a vystoupat do nadmořské výšky 4000 metrů nad mořem.

A freight train carrying what we (during our stay in Chile) named the so-called "flask" cars heading for loading at the San Cristobal mine in Potosi, Bolivia from the Chilean port of Mejillones on the west coast. This train must cross from the very west of Chile to the east. Mainly zinc-silver and lead-silver concentrate for export to the world are transported in wagons.
More info about the mine and operations:
The San Cristobal open pit mine produces zinc-silver and zinc-lead concentrate. The mine produces approximately 1,300 metric tons of zinc-silver concentrate and 300 metric tons of lead-silver concentrate per day, making it approximately 600,000 tons of concentrate mined per year. And even if the extracted materials are not considered to be of significant quality, their extraction continues. It is thus one of the largest mines in Bolivia, overall the sixth largest zinc mine in the world and the third largest producer of silver. Although the mine has been mined before, it is a relatively young mine, where mining has only taken off in full swing in recent years and rail transport to the port of Mejillones began in 2007 (first train on 22 September 2007). The first shipment went to Japan and its volume was 4,000 metric tons of Bolivian mineral concentrates.
The "sluice" from the San Cristobal mine was built by the company owning the mine itself. It is a 1 meter gauge railway with a track length of 65 km. It connects to the Uyuni-Ollagüe state line at Río Grande. Then, already on the state line, the trains continue further west to the Chilean border through the town of Julaca, Chiguana and end at the border station Avaroa, which is approximately 100 km from the Río Grande turnout. The delivery of cargo takes place on the territory of Chile in Ollagüe (approx. 4.5 km from Avaroa). At Avaroa station, however, the train waits until it receives approval to enter Ollagüe, and this is usually at the time when a train from the interior of Chile has arrived at Ollagüe.
We had the opportunity to visit the small town of Julaca, here, apart from the local shop with cactus beer, time literally stopped. Here we were attracted by the half-demolished station and parked boxcars. At the end, the arriving MUVka from Uyuni surprised us, which we really did not expect here. We did not see the freight trains passing through this station.
A full train set must travel over 600 kilometers from the mine to the port and climb to an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level. The train journey takes more than one full day.
Each car is loaded with two "flasks" (translated as containers), loaded with 21 tons of silver, zinc or lead concentrates (lead-silver concentrate is slightly lighter and weighs 17.6 tons in one flask). We found these containers in two color combinations, red or white. In total, more than 700,000 tons of concentrates are transported annually.
After the train arrives at the port of Mejillones, the cylindrical containers are unloaded in a closed building, from where the concentrates are transported by means of belts in closed corridors to the storage building. The concentrates are transported to the ship in a closed system along a conveyor belt approximately 700 meters long to prevent damage to the landscape and the environment.
Haven't seen this Asea locomotive for a long time, but yesterday the ice has broken, as it approached the railway station of Kelenföld. I was leaving the place, but as a result of it I could catch the loco in a more natural composition.
