This was in the fast room at 'Canvas' in King's Cross. I had to skate/slip & slide my way back to the slow-er room.

A day trip to Margate out of season meant Dreamland wasn't fully open and the place was deserted. The only place I saw any sign of life was in the roller disco where this girl was skating round an empty floor.

I now have a Rubiks Cube that is all muddled up!

Pictures of the now long gone Vrieshuis Amerika, a huge cold storage building on the Amsterdam waterfront, squatted in the nineties.

These pictures were taken during the last weeks of the squatting in 1998 as a documentation of the building, that was taken down not long after.

this was dedicated to the rollerdisco, a weekly music event where you could dance on skates. the western style houses came from a commercial shoot and housed a bar and lounging areas iirc

The Roller-Disco Paradise at Wollman Rink

I've been going with Alex to the Totally 80s nightclub on and off for quite some time, but last week was the first time we ever saw them use the roller disco part which was great, even though I couldn't find skates that fit me. We met some nice new friends there too and the music is usually just what we like. Even the radio is good when it's closed. Don't mind Loki, he's quite a friendly hyena-wolfy thing.

Muse live at Teignmouth, this was the first night of their epic homecoming gig.

This was probably like a dream location for any Muse fan, to see them play at their hometown and experience a bit of their childhood and history together (including their first gig at a rollerdisco).

The set was pretty tight, including a slew of hits from each album, songs from the upcoming album The Resistance (including Resistance, Undisclosed Desires, Unnatural Selection, United States of Eurasia and Uprising.

It's growing like a new born baby? Muse live at Teignmouth, this was the first night of their epic homecoming gig.

@ the roller disco party

Kerry and I have been working our way through the decades of the 20th century (well the visually distinguishable ones anyway :P ). We've covered the 20's, 30's/40's and the 80's, and this time we went for the 70's. Perms and roller boots. I did think about adding a Walkman, but they only just squeezed into the 70's and they start at £300/$400 for a non-working one...

So - the roller disco then - this was a real thing: like a disco, but on rollers. The back-lights are Nikon SB900's (3 up top, and one on the floor). The floor and backdrop is black paper. Off to the sides at the back are two edge lights with blue gels. The key light is a neutral flash in a small beauty dish with a grid from camera right. The fill light is a floor skip: ie a flash head pointing straight down into a white foam core board on the floor in front of the model - it's like putting a softbox below the floor level. I used some cine-foil wrapped around the standard reflector on this light to ensure none of it reached the model directly.

The idea was that this was after the party, and a a lot of energetic skating, so we used oil to achieve the shiny skin, with a 70/30 water/glycerine mix sprayed onto top. This was about frame 2 or 3. It got more complicated from there as we added background haze, and chilled fog on the floor, but I liked this clean shot too.
