I've got a lot of pictures ready to post, but couldn't decide on what direction to go with. Then I remembered my trip through the Palouse last fall, and that I had a few pictures waiting.
A pair of new Conrail GE C40-8Ws approached the Linglestown Road overpass as they departed the Harrisburg Terminal with coal empty XCG-80W in the summer of 1994.
Another coal empty was departing the terminal as well behind some EMDs that would follow the GEs west on the Middle Division.
Those were great times along the railroad.

The rolling hills and stubble fields around Lago, Idaho reminded me of the Palouse region of Washington and Idaho. Sunlight breaking through storm clouds was a bonus.

When spring comes I like to take my dogs to Beale Strand. On this occasion they had to stand back and give the starring role to this horse. I was thrilled when he went for several rolls before going back into his horse box.

This is where last winter’s snow on the south side of Mount Jefferson begins its downhill journey to the Columbia River. It will pass through a couple other rivers on the way, but probably won’t take long to get there. The snow line was at about 6,000 feet last weekend and the mosquitoes were abundant. I had to clear the cloud of bugs from in front of the camera before every shot. As the evening cooled, a thin layer of ice covered the melting snow and reflected the color in the clouds.
Blocks fallen from the cliff are rolled by the waves, losing their matrix of chalk and are transformed into pebbles.
