These Power, Passion, and Pride panels depict the achievements made by people with disabilities. They are part of a scroll that when completed will consist of over 1,000 panels measuring 3.75 inches wide and 8.5 inches long. When linked together they will provide over 700 feet of visual history to inspire current and future generations of people with disabilities to reach for the stars as their predecessors have proven are attainable. Hi! I would like you to meet Barbara Gilbert.

No, I don't know her, I haven't even been to Florida before, I just happened to stumble across this story and thought it deserved to be spread. :-)

First, let me preface by saying that I am going to be out of town for the holiday weekend, and rather than leave you with a picture of the fish I am hoping to catch, I thought I would leave you with something inspirational and heartwarming.

I am not an overly religious man, I do, however, believe in God. From that base, I look for inspiration and guidance in my life and in trying to raise my children and be a good husband. I hope God blesses me to have the strength, courage, and commitment to be more like Barbara Gilbert. I know I try every day, and some days I succeed, some I fail. Her story and her actions are inspirational and should be applauded, so if you do happen to click and read, pass it on, leave a comment on this thread, whatever. Lord knows the world can use more of this and less of what the news usually reports.

Check it out, you won't regret it.

Thanks to all my Flickr friends for stopping by, and I will post some stuff I shoot this weekend on Monday (hopefully :-)). Happy (Early) Labor Day!

DISCLAIMER: Copyright of the photograph goes to Maggie Fitzroy of The Florida Times-Union. Maggie, please don't get mad at me for posting it. I am not making anything by using it, and if you request me to, I will remove it. I just thought I could spread the word a bit. Thanks. :-)

The person who I admire most on this planet - my Mom.

She's my best friend, my counselor, my guardian angel, my role model, my hero.

I can only hope to be half of the talented and amazing person she is.
