UNS UWE | OUR UWE HAS DIED. What an enormous loss! I couldn't help crying when I read the breaking news of his death.

Uwe Seeler (5 November 1936 – 21 July 2022) is usually regarded as one of the greatest players in German football history. He was a star without the slightest airs and graces and because of his modesty he was tremendously popular also after his career end.

"Uwe Seeler was a fantastic person, a role model in all areas." (Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the manager of the German women's national football team)

Mother Teresa....she was the one who lived her life for others...

This image went through many different changes of meaning... I started off with the idea of a sort of imaginary friend, which then moved on to the "physically perfect role model", and then John and I made it black and white, and the whole idea changed for the better. I guess you can make what you want of it though.

Thank you to John for the name and editing help and Jesus (not the Biblical one) for mannequin use! :)

Temple Of HeavenThe Temple of Heaven, founded in the first half of the 15th century, is considered the most holy of Beijing's imperial temples. It has been described as "a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design".

The design of the Temple of Heaven complex, true to its sacred purpose, reflects the mystical cosmological laws believed to be central to the workings of the universe. Both the overall arrangement and the buildings themselves reflect the relationship between sky and earth, the core of understanding of the Universe at that time.

One of the many places on this sweet planet (we slowly kill) I wanted to witness live and with my own eyes since I saw it the first time in the www. The "Portland Head Light", a rolemodel for many other lighthouses I guess.

The area closes it's gates at sundown, people in cars with megaphones are driving around, kicking out visitors.

This image shows a person I've known for all my life and to whom I'll always look up to: my beloved grandfather. He worked as a photographer, retoucher and graphic designer when he was my age and he was the one who got me started on photography in the first place. Although his criticism on my work especially on my first attempts in taking portraits was rather harsh, he never failed to show me how much he recognized my interest and progress in that field; for example by letting me use his old equipment that normally no one was allowed to even touch. My grandpa taught me a lot about color, lighting, composition and contrasts, but most importantly he showed me that being hard on myself is a good thing for developing my skills.

Happy Monday all! Hope you had a great weekend! This photo is of my son a few months back when Spring came! He came up to me tugging my jacket saying daddy daddy smiling :)

you won't go to the doctor, he keeps callin' you insane. your lost even when your goin' the right way.

song: trainwreck - demi lovato.

why's everyone hating on demi lately?

when i saw she entered the treatment center i freaked out.

i was questioning myself why she was my rolemodel and why i looked up to her?

i thought demi's a superstar, she has money that i wouldn't begin to know what to do with. amazing clothes, an amazing voice. she gets to live her dream everyday. why is her life soooo bad?

the question is why WOULDN'T she still be my rolemodel and the person i looked up too?

she was brave enough, like everyones said, to get help. i don't know her problems so i shouldn't judge her, i don't have the right too. just because she has all those things doesn't mean she isn't hurting inside or that a new couple outfits will fix it. demi lovato IS a superstar she has everyone reacting to what she does and says. judging her music, her clothes, where she goes, who she goes with. just like when she died her hair black, then put blonde in it. "that colors ugly on her. i don't like her anymore." really? it's freaking hair. get. over. it. its hers. she is a person. she does have feelings. shes just human. i am a true demi lovato fan. have been since the beginning, and always will be.

FEEL BETTER DEMI. <3

Katherine Johnson's life is a testament to what our world is capable of if we open our eyes to possibilities.

Mrs. Johnson was a NASA mathematician whose work was critical to the success of many of the major space achievements we normally think of. As one of the first African-American women to work there, Mrs. Johnson calculated orbital mechanic trajectories, launch windows, and emergency return paths for many landmark events. When Alan Shepard became the first American in space, Katherine Johnson, amongst other significant contributions, projected where his Freedom 7 Mercury capsule would land in the ocean, so that he could be retrieved quickly. When John Glenn became the first American to orbit Earth, he refused to fly until Mrs. Johnson manually verified the projections calculated by the new IBM digital computers. She mastered complex manual calculations for rendezvous paths for the Apollo Lunar Module, and command module on flights to the Moon, like 1969's Apollo 11 flight. When the Apollo 13 Moon mission was aborted, her work on backup procedures and charts helped set a safe path for the crew's return to Earth. In a 2010 interview, Mrs. Johnson recalled, "Everybody was concerned about them getting there. We were concerned about them getting back." She was essential to the beginning of the Space Shuttle program, contributed to the Earth Resources Satellite, and she worked on plans for a mission to Mars.

Katherine Johnson finished high school at 14, then degrees, summa cum laude, in mathematics and French at 18, in West Virginia. She was an African-American mother of three girls, in the still-segregated south, where women's work was less valued. She faced state racial segregation laws, and federal workplace segregation rules. Engineers were white males only, at the time. Up against gender and racial barriers, Katherine Johnson was assertive, asking to be included in all-male editorial meetings. She simply said she had done the work and that she belonged. Her co-workers at NASA were wise to allow her to lend her brilliant contributions to the team.

The much acclaimed 2016 film, Hidden Figures, follows Mrs. Johnson and her fellow female African-American mathematicians, Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughan, through their challenges and achievements, working at NASA. If you have not seen this film, I highly recommend it.

By reaching beyond the expectations and norms of the time, Katherine Johnson showed us what is possible when we cast aside our biases, and allow potential to thrive. She was a true pioneer, with numerous honours and accolades, who is a hero and a role model to us all.

Mrs. Katherine Johnson passed away on February 24, 2020, at the beautiful and admirable age of 101. A life well lived!

This is one of the few pictures I have of my wife at work as a doctor since of course I couldn't be present when she see patients. This one is over 30 years back she has done amazing research in academic pediatrics cared for thousands of boys and girls and especially teenagers. There are too few images of smart intelligent women who help keep our world together as scientists, teachers, inventors, mothers, directors and on and on.

Here is a Flckr link to a very beautiful song video.

From the streets of Oslo, Norway.

Moovar Koil or "The Three temples" is a Hindu temple complex situated in the village of Kodumbalur, 36 kilometers from Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu, India. These temples are believed to have been constructed by a 10th-century Chola general Boothi Vikrama Kesari. Only two of the three temples have managed to survive. The place was ruled by Irukku Velir chieftains. Kodumbalur was also the site of a fierce battle between the Pandyas and the Pallavas.

The Muvar-koil (‘temple-of-three’) is a beautiful temple of Chozha period, built by the Irukkuvel chief Bhuthi-vikrama-kesari. As per a foundation inscription on south wall of the north-most temple, he built these three Siva shrines, one on his own behalf and, the other two on behalf of his wives, Karrali and Varaguna.

The first impression about Muvar-koil is one of enchanting beauty, perfect composition in stone. The poise of the Vimanam, the beauty of the supple figures that have been modelled with loving care and the refined contours of the domical terrace edgings, all indicate the Pallava style for delicacy of structure and form.

It is considered as role model of Chola temples.

Camila Cabello can sing (quite well). And she is undoubtedly attractive. If I said she is sexy, I'd get in trouble with the political-correctness brigade and feminists :( Yet - is the Guess brand exploiting her sexiness? Are brands exploiting talent, tricking them to sell sex in order to sell albums?.. Or is it just about changing times and shifting boundaries, what was taboo two generations ago is the fully acceptable norm today? And tomorrow??

Ancient Treasures indeed, yet it seems like only yesterday when I traded in my Typewriter for a MAC, wow, what an amazing transition, truly an adventure into the unknown. But as you know, I love a good adventure and making the transition became one of the best moves I have ever made.

Yes of course, it was scary, I didn’t know where to begin, how do I turn this thing on. What’s a floppy, where does it go, what does it do, how do I use it. It was a whole new experience for me, I had so many questions and there was so much to learn.

There was no internet or on-line help where I could simply look up my questions and get instant answers, my only means was to study the manuals, pages and pages of information that appeared to be written in a foreign language. There was talk of RAM, ROM, bits, bytes, software, hardware, analog, digital, apples and windows, the list was endless.

Frankly, I love the computer era and feel fortunate to have become involved in its early stage of development and you know what, even after all these years, I still get excited each and every time I push the power-up button on my machine.

So please join me by saluting the genius of Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates and all the other pioneers who truly transformed our way of life.

Thanks for a fantastic journey.

Andrea, a top fashion model for As|UR appeared in our August 5th update in her 9th gallery with us. As she pursues a career in TV and modeling, she is thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a community that supports a natural body image.

My newest custom girl gets her first photo taken! She's called Barbie-Jane, because she was inspired by my first ever Barbie doll that I got as a kid (that I called Jane). She was a late 70's superstar Barbie and unfortunately I don't have her anymore, but I thought I'd re-live some of my childhood with the re-incarnation of her.

I already carved this girl's face plate last month, but had to wait for some new cans of sealant before I could finish her face-up. Barbie-Jane got blue eye lids just like her rolemodel, peachy lips and a toothy smile all remeniscient of my original Barbie doll. :) I think I'm going to have loads of fun with this one! :)

This theme was hard, I´m not very musical at all, so what I did was get some of the lyrics from some of my favorite songs from one of the most (if not the most) influential person in my life... Pink
