I really appreciate your comments and faves. I'm not a hoarder of contacts, but enjoy real-life, honest people. You are much more likely to get my comments and faves in return if you fit the latter description. Just sayin. :oD

So we all know that Paris is the city of love, romance, happy couples, and ocassionally of distraught couples breaking up along the banks of the Seine... but I was in Paris alone this time, and feeling it. Every restaurant I went into, every person I passed... and then I went to the Louvre, and crossing the courtyard was this vision in coral pink with red and white balloons.
Someone had set me a mini (easy!) photo challenge for Paris - the word was "rouge", and I had to take 4 pictures in one day under that theme. I couldn't have engineered a more perfect scene.
The couple who were marrying had their official photographer taking pictures of them, and the lady had very high shoes on under that dress. When I first encountered them, it was her alone, with dress hitched up, and face warped in concentration negotiating the cobblestones, precarious but with purpose. He was standing on the flat paving to the left, watching in awe. Instead of photographing her dramatic walk, I filmed it on my iPhone. Somehow in motion her fragility was even more beautiful.
Their photographer saw me watching and saw my camera, and after a brief conversation I shot 3 polaroids, one of which I gave to them and was featured in their official portraits, as they held it in their hands as they were photographed.
The thing I love most about Polaroids is how they bring people together. I have made so many friends through this medium, and continue to make more. It is magical... and I was happy to share that magic with this couple in Paris.
It seems a fitting close to 'Roid week... yes i have one more upload, but this is the last day, and I wanted to let you all know how much I love this week - it reminds me of why I love shooting, and why Polaroid is such a big part of my life. Thank you.
Happy day 5, Roidweek friends!
And my second to last plug:
Plus in case you missed it, my book, Dreamlands / Wastelands will finally be launching at The Photographer's Gallery, London on the 29th May. Here is the link - pass it on to anyone who might be interested in attending the launch! check it out here

When you're in the mood
You may meet a man
Can't do anything good
But, you gotta pity him
And try to understand
That a hero, a hero is so hard to find"
