Devote one hour at the dusk, (like we did at 5 AM, during your sleepless vacation), to tour around the park, right off the campground! Meandering between the mound give you an amazing views in the Badlands, where you can be were blown away by this quietest place on earth, when you even cannot hear a cricket. The scenery is absolutely incredible, and image to be greeted by this surreal panorama of hoodoo mounds. You are touched by the sun kissing the hills, incredibly soft light creating stunning crevices on the side hills! This is a perfect time for a hike, when no mosquitoes are hunting you, so you can venture freely.

Pulpit Rock is a popular natural sandstone rock feature in the north part of Colorado Springs. There are many hiking trails in the area, with one 4.2 mile trail leading to the top which has expansive views of the city and Pikes Peak to west. The rock can be easily seen while driving on the interstate highway between Colorado Springs and Denver. The exposed white-grey face of the sandstone formation is estimated to be 66 million years old.
The sky was full of drama as we drove up atop the Colorado National Monument. (city of Grand Junction down below)
Have a wonderful day everyone.

The Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia - one of the photo - Australia trip.
Olympus digital camera.
Shot at Ocean Road, Victoria (Australia) where the Southern ocean is. A beautiful sandstone rock formation with deep caves. The rock formation indeed looks like an 'ocean watcher'.

Not all Australia's "outback" is flat. The rock formation on the left of the photo is known by locals as the Great Wall of China. I think you'll be able to see why. It is located in the west of the Northern Territory, Australia, near the border with Western Australia,
Happy weekend!

The massive rock formation in the picture is "Ship Rock", which forms the south "wall" of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. There are 70 tiered seating rows to the top, and for some reason I decided to walk each row rather than climb the stairs outright. In 90+ degrees heat at mid-day sun, and an elevation of 6450 feet (1965m), it was quite a slog (I passed by 9525 "seats" in the walk).
Red Rocks Amphitheathre is an outdoor entertainment venue that was provided by Mother Nature, and has been used since 1906. The modern configuration of the venue was constructed under the ownership of the City of Denver, from 1936 to 1942.
Because of the unique setting, and great acoustics provided by three naturally-formed 300-foot rocks (Ship Rock, Stage Rock, and Creation Rock), many TV performances, movies and recordings have been made at Red Rocks.
Nearly every major recording artist has performed at Red Rocks since the 1960's Beatles show. Stage bills, posters and signed memorabilia are on display at the onsite Colorado Music Hall of Fame. I named only a few of the groups (ones that I liked) in the "Tags".
@ the Great Ocean Road. Yes, I have been on holidays for a few weeks. I visited this breathtaking vista!

Everyone who visits ANP has a shot taken from here and now so do I :D
Such a stunning day for landscape photography. Mild temperature. Very light breeze, dark & moody skies. The only downside was that I only had one hour available. I honestly could have spent most of the day photographing this location. I'm definitely coming back to capture the sun setting behind Pulpit Rock at some stage!
Somersby Falls, NSW. It was beautiful on the forest floor... moss covered rocks, lush green plants and the sound of these beautiful waterfalls.
In Antelope Canyon, northern Arizona, at high noon. Thus the brilliant light from the "slots" above, which highlights the rock formations below. For those who are new to slot canyons, this narrow deep canyon, located in Navajo territory, has been carved out through sandstone deposits over millions of years by water -- often flash floods. Today, it is probably the most well-known slot canyon in the world...ten years ago, relatively few people knew of it. Going there is a painful experience, not because of any technical difficulties, but because hundreds of people sign on to (expensive) tours through it most days. It deserves to be seen in solitude, but that is no longer possible. The footprints in the sand tell today's story of Antelope Canyon. Nevertheless, a sublime natural wonder.
Last ones of Death Valley for a while.

A sassafras sapling is backlighted against one of the formations at Garden of the Gods State Park. The yellow is nice, but these trees can really get some gorgeous reds and oranges. Maybe it will be more colorful in future years if it can make it up to get more light...
The tail end of the Milky Way over The Three Sisters hoodoo. The Three Sisters is the most iconic of all goblin formations in Goblin Valley State Park near Hanksville, Utah. The park consists of thousands of hoodoo sandstone formations.
The area around the formations really looked more like something from the southwest US more than the midwest. I'm sure that the ongoing drought had something to do with that... Gove County, Kansas
The layers in the rock were quite pronounced, with a distinct demarcation between the light gray lower levels and the buffy layers on top. In the foreground, a small area of denser buffy material has remained while everything around it has washed away. Scale is lost here, but the foreground feature is just a few feet high while the pillars at rear are huge, closer to fifty feet.

Im Wald unterhalb der Burg Falkenstein befindet sich der Naturschutzpark Felsengarten. Heute war ich mit meiner Schwester dort auf Entsdeckungsreise. War etwas anstrengend, aber ich finde auch lohnenswert.
The Felsengarten nature reserve is located in the forest below Falkenstein Castle. Today I was there with my sister on a discovery trip. It was a little tiring, but I also think it was worth it.
