The new Da Vinci surgical robot at St Andrew's Hospital that is now providing high-precision minimally invasive robotic surgery in South Australia. This one is playing with a rubber band and some plastic cones for demonstration purposes.

My next backer @JohnVerdon came through the ether of the Internet igg.me/at/humana/x/5140932 to celebrate my comeback.

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It includes cosmetic or aesthetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns. The main aim of plastic surgery is to restore the function of tissues and skin to as close to normal as possible. Improving the appearance of body parts is an important, but secondary aim.

Plastic surgery is different to cosmetic surgery, which is surgery carried out solely to change a healthy person’s appearance to achieve what they feel is a more desirable look. Plastic surgery can be used to repair:

Abnormalities that have existed from birth, such as a cleft lip and palate, webbed fingers and birthmarks

Areas damaged by the removal of cancerous tissue, such as from the face or breast

Extensive burns or other serious injuries, such as those sustained during traffic accidents.

At Q1 hospitals, we have experienced plastic surgeons with extensive training who belong to professional associations. We also undertake surgeries like skin grafting, skin flap surgery and tissue expansion surgeries. We also have a wide range of other methods, such as fat transfer or grafting (where fat is removed from one area and inserted in another area, usually to correct unevenness), vacuum closure (where suction is applied to a wound through a sterile piece of foam to draw out fluid and encourage healing), camouflage make-up or cream, and prosthetic devices, such as artificial limbs.

Using robotic surgery, one of the minimally invasive approaches used at MD Anderson, surgeons are able to minimize trauma, to maximize outcomes and enable patients to return to their normal lives more quickly.

Chris Holsinger, M.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, is applying technology to the neck and thyroid gland. He was the first ENT surgeon in the United States to perform a robotic thyroidectomy, using Dr. Woong Youn Chung's technique, which allows the removal of tumors from these sites through an incision in the upper arm without carbon dioxide insufflation.

I was able to sit in on a live heart surgery today performed by Dr. Michael Smith on the Da Vinci (robotic surgery) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. Nothing short of amazing.

Dr. Kenneth J. Stallman explains how he uses a surgical robot tool to perform urologic surgeries.

Orthopedic trauma includes the injuries affecting Joints, Muscles, Tendons, Ligaments and Bones in any part of the body leading to restricted movement of the injured. Trauma may range from minor injuries to severely broken bones and associated parts. Trauma involves intervention of multi-disciplinary Consultants making sure the injured part of the body regains its original strength and maximum functionality.

There are different types of Orthopedic Trauma classified based on the body part affected and extremity of injury as upper (broken wrist/arm, collarbone & ribs), lower (broken ankle, hips or legs) and soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments) respectively.

Most common symptoms include: swelling, tenderness, bleeding at times of skin breakout, bruising, restricted movement, numbness, nipping sensation, severe pain, shallow breathing associated with grinding, cracking, or snapping noise is heard at the time of the fall or accident.

We have a team of expertized Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physicians along with well-equipped Emergency and Operation Theatres duly serving the deceived. We reinforce both surgical as well as non-surgical interventions to treat the affected bones and tissues. Non-surgical external fixation method include casts, braces and splints. Surgical interventions include conventional surgery, implant insertions and minimally invasive surgery.

Q1 Hospitals holds distinct identity in performing certain procedures meticulously which include bone grafting and bone/joint transplantation, bone-forming, Limb lengthening, Lower limb joint reconstruction, such as hip and knee replacements, Upper extremity reconstruction and soft tissue repair etc…

Surgeons in a variety of specialties at Riverside Methodist Hospital and Grant Medical Center use the da Vinci™ Surgical System, the newest and most advanced technology for minimally invasive surgery (MIS).

OhioHealth has three da VinciTM Surgical System robots – two at Riverside Methodist and one at Grant.

The da Vinci™ Surgical System provides powerful advances that:

-Increase the surgeon's dexterity for difficult aspects of the minimally invasive procedure

-Offer better visualization of anatomical structures by immersing the surgeon in a high-resolution three-dimensional image, instead of the two dimensional or "flat" video screen of traditional minimally invasive surgery

Minimally invasive surgery with robotic technology creates less trauma for the patient, less risk of complications, less pain and blood loss, faster overall recovery time, a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to normal activities.
