IU Kokomo hosted a F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Tech Challenge Qualifying Tournament, a state-wide robotics competition for high school robotics teams.. Teams from around Northern Indiana competed and some placed for the state competition in Indianapolis
I have a lot of empty glass cups from all the Ikea Trinda Ljuv I burn so I made two of those a litebit more me, by puting some Robot sticker kind of thing I bought from Lagerhaus on them.
I got my new robot in the mail yesterday from Paul over at Lockwasher Designs. I've been eagerly anticipating his arrival since I ordered him about a month ago. He was incredible to work with, and even to tried to tailor him for me by making him extra tall. (He comes in at about 15.5") If you're in the market for some cool, one-of-a-kind, robot sculptures I highly recommend him.
And yes, he's now the unofficial mascot of T Incorporated.
On July 29, kids at Meadowridge Library learned how to program LEGO Mindstorms robots to complete basic tasks. Presented by Dane County Engineering for Kids. A Bubbler event. Pictures taken by library staff.
So I thought I'd try something different icing wise and tried a vienna cream icing recipe… well… it was okay… they would look much better if I had a piping doovey wacka. Call me boring but I would prefer regular "icing mixture & water" icing any day. It's much easier to work with and doesn't taste over the top & woha buttery.
Jeff and I built Herbie last night. I'm good at soldering. He's a little frantic, but still, basically, he works!! I felt like I'd given birth or something. ROBOT! We renamed him Springsteen -- long story.
Pros:
- Big everything
Cons:
- Weak upper arm ball joint - pops off easily when posing the arms
- Can't hold his shield (when I know how to mod in the future, I can probably figure how he could)
- Too Heavy (Action Base 1 can't even support him without finding a good balance)
- Doesn't really have the modern inner frame. Personally, it's somewhere in between a NG 1/100 and a MG
The 4-H club held a robotics Expo at the local University this weekend.
This bot was to pick up things. Unfortunately, this object kept rolling away.
