For the theme "Quotes" for SOS group.

So many possibilities for this, but Stavros, my googly eyed cactus caught my eye and the rest is history :) I agree with the quote, I think I'm 'creatively different' lol, 'normal' is overrated anyway!

Robin Williams, a comic genius, gone too soon!

I think we have all been guilty at one point or another in our lives of making others feel alone. I know I have regrettably been guilty of it. But I also know I have been on the receiving end of that feeling as well. If I could seek to know every person I made feel this way, I would instantly ask their forgiveness- simply because it's a horrible feeling and I never wanted anyone to feel that way by my hand.

That being said, there's a certain maturity in life where you start removing people from your life who make you feel this way. One-sided relationships, whether with intent of malice or not, are just that- one sided and without joy. I'd rather be with people who bring me joy than the darkness.

... my favourite Robin Williams movie. Henry and I watched it today. We both hope it became Robin's hope on the way out... "never give up, Christy"...

I got the opportunity to see Robin Williams for a very brief time in Kabul at an impromptu "show" on the grounds of the US Embassy. Lance Armstrong, Lewis Black and Kathleen Madygin were part of the show but Robin was the star.

He made everyone laugh and forget for a few minutes why we were there. Then he waded out into the crowd for autographs and pictures. The handlers kept telling him it was time to go and he kept ignoring them. He stayed until everyone who wanted a picture got one and everyone who wanted an autograph got one. He was exactly what we want in our celebrities and exactly what we so rarely get - a nice human.

It hurts that he lost his battle with his inner demons. There but for the grace of god go I……..

The world is a little less funny with his passing.

If you've ever seen Robin Williams live, you would instantly recognize a Tasmanian Devil unleashed on stage. He brought uncontrollable laughter to tears. I had the great privilege of seeing him unexpectedly at SketchFest a few years ago. See prior post: flic.kr/p/bjesr6 He decided to show up as the anchor comedian after five other comedians had done their set. I've never had more fun watching sketch comedy.

This is the film-set for the 1980 Musical Film 'Popeye'.

It was directed by Robert Altman and adapted from E. C. Segar's Popeye comic strip. It starred Robin Williams as Popeye the Sailor Man and Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl.

It premiered on December 6, 1980 in Los Angeles, California. Harry Nilsson's composed the soundtrack.

Like most people of my age, I am absolutely devastated at Robin William's death.

He was a genius that touched my life, and like most genius's he had his demons, which in my eyes only made him more human.

It is haunting me that he felt so alone in trying to take control of his life and it is a sobering reminder that if one needs help, ASK for help.

I suffer terribly from depression, its something I cannot escape as it seems to go hand in hand with Narcolepsy. But I am one of the lucky ones as it can be controlled and on my dark days, I have Shane who is my light, who is my rock.

I have spent ages going through my photos as I wanted to post something that meant a lot to me, but was also appropriate in honouring Robin.

I took this last November on my birthday when we had a perfect day whizzing through the Highlands of Scotland.

This is Loch Lomand at sunrise, with a heavy mist in the background and a lone fisherman with his dog going to collect his nets.

It was such a peaceful scene and I am glad I was there to capture it.

Tomorrow we are heading off to Scotland again for a fortnight and I am so, so, SO looking forward to this holiday.

Dolphins are high on the agenda and because we are staying very close to Loch Ness, I will be doing some Nessie hunting at Dawn.

To all my Flickr Family, I hope you have all found your peace.

"El día de hoy no se volverá a repetir. Vive intensamente cada instante. Lo que no significa alocadamente, sino mimando cada situación, escuchando a cada compañero, intentando realizar cada sueño positivo, buscando el éxito del otro, examinándote de la asignatura fundamental: el Amor. Para que un día no lamentes haber malgastado egoístamente tu capacidad de amar y dar vida".

It has been awhile since I visited this pretty lake but the forecast was for very cool and calm and it truly was spiritual to be alone watching the sunrise.
