Bonkers is waiting until we're asleep before he tries to steal my mugicha (roasted barley tea). He doesn't like it but he enjoys the chase.

Tigger recommends mugicha (roasted barley tea) as a perfect remedy for humid summer afternoons in Hokkaido. (As long as she doesn't have to drink it, she recommends it.)

Bonkers was waiting for us to go upstairs to bed before stealing my mugicha (roasted barley tea - it's great for when you don't want any caffeine). We foiled his nefarious plans by bringing him upstairs with us (his rear legs are showing their age).

Actually the tradition in Palermo is to fill half of the glass with lemon granita and then add another half of iced tea (with no ice!).

Refreshing!

這家7-Eleven只剩6瓶了。

Nothing like the barley water of my childhood (which I loved too). Korean/Japanese roasted barley steeped in water. We tried this last year when we visited a Korean supermarket and came home with a massive bag of roasted barley and didn't know what to do with it (some internet searching finally enlightened us). This version is EASIER! Roasted barley in teabags! Which you can leave in cold water in the fridge for an hour (and even if you leave it a whole week, it still doesn't taste bitter). Oh how lazy are we?!

Now that it's getting late in the day, no more caffeine, so I drink barley tea (麦茶 or mugicha) - no caffeine and tastes kind of grain-like but good. Other than 1 liter beer cans, I don't think I've seen drinks as large as this sold in Japan before (I have to admit I haven't been there since 2010)... It used to be (and may still be) that vending machines sold 350ml and ~150ml sizes of the same product for the same price. I always bought the larger size just to teach those sneaky companies a lesson! (What lesson that was, I have no idea.)

There is a girl with golden hair on my bottle of mugicha. What is she doing there and what does she want?

For fun, I decided to see what a laser pointer light would look like going through my bottle of mugicha (roasted barley tea). It was interesting...

When I was taking pictures of Naomi and Bonkers, I accidentally took a picture of my mugicha (roasted barley tea). I liked the colors and so here it is.
