1920s build Iroquois Shay Road Roller 8 tonne."Touche" 8170 BF5418

Built by the Barber Asphalt Company in Buffalo, New York.

I believe this was brought over to the UK around 2007 for restoration.

Seen at the Stoke Row Steam Rally June 2023.

Aptly named "Stony Broke", Aveling Porter Type C Road Roller. In 1980, the present owner rescued the rusting hulk from a children's playground and rebuilt it over a period of fifteen years to the excellent condition it is now. Attends all it's events under it's own steam at about 4mph. Photographed at Stoke Row Steam Rally in 2022. A bit of a hazy picture, there was quite a lot of smoke around!

Seen working on a blisteringly hot day in Stourport, this Traction Engine, built by John Fowler of Leeds in 1901, No.8889 " Dreadought", was originally a road roller. Weighing Ten tons, it has a single cylinder and an NHP of 5

The little one on the right went up & down very quickly :)

Hello Folks,

Here is an HDR of an old Road Roller I clicked on my way to Bir - Himachal Pradesh, India. This was early morning, the light was soft.

Bir-Billing is the most favorite/amazing place for Paragliding in India.

I shall post more pictures as Portraits, Waterfalls etc soon.

Stay tuned!

Nice cool morning at Kenwood Park.

Any idea what this is?

Didn't expect to park next to this.

Fowler T3 Compound Steam Roller 17950 of 1930 vintage.

A beautiful hazy smog has formed while the engines circuited Stoke Row Steam Rally show ground in 2022.

Brings back memories of before the clean air act took hold and pollution was honest and you could see it. Now; the toxic stuff is still there but invisible to the naked eye, progress!

As displayed in the Kiskőrös Transport Museum.

Road Rollers ... fast (right) & slow (left) doing our road.

As seen at Potters Bar Garage, Hertfordshire.

Now what have we here??

Dinky Toys No.279 - Aveling Barford Diesel Roller (Master Pavior) 1965-71

Missing one sliding cab window (the other side) and the badge off the front and still carrying the dust from the attic but not bad for well over fifty.

It makes a diesel engine noise when it is pushed along courtesy of what sounds like a spring on a toothed gear inside. Took me all of a day to discover that because I was just picking it up and putting it down instead of rolling it 😂
