I was driving along and had to stop to let a car through. I was impressed by the size of this equipment.

This is a Galion Chief steamroller. It rests at the corner of Chena Hot Springs and Nordale Roads, down the road from and taken on the same day as the last photo. I’ve wanted to shoot her for awhile. I thought she would look great in black and white in the winter, but the snow was always deep and I never attempted it.

But after getting close last week I found her full of marvelous color and texture and also information. It was made at the Galion Iron works and Manufacturing Company in Galion, Ohio. The registration number, serial no., motor no., and other documentation including Date Purchased: February 28, 1942 are all clearly visible on a stamped iron ID tag (see next photo)).We had a nice photo session together and I hope to post a few more here.
