The diversity and creativity of SL users never ceases to amazes me. What a beautiful sim!

If Middle Earth is your thing, and even if it's not, you really must visit here. Enjoy the sights of Rivendell, get lost in the whimsical labyrinth of light, and cuddle on the river's edge.

I know Tolkien didn't mention the fae in his epic saga, but... c'mon. You're telling me Tom Bombadil WASN'T the king of the fair folk? ;)

Rivendell is that place for me. I stumbled upon this magical sim when exploring destinations, and am so thankful to the creators. I have long admired the creators and visionaries in sl, who design and bring to life such wonderful places for all to enjoy and get lost in.

TP to the visually stunning Rivendell ♥

I'm not sure why but, waiting for the sun to raise I surprised myself thinking to the peaceful, sheltered town of Rivendell, described as the "the last homely house east of the sea" in the 'Lord of the Rings' book.

Tips&Bricks are hosting a sweet "little" contest - you need to build in micro scale and create a small version of an official LEGO set! I really enjoy building in this scale and I've decided to do one. To be honest I did one more build first, but it's only two parts :D I'll share it later on this week probably.

I will start with apologies. I haven't been very active of late and I do miss your streams. It will take me some time, but I will visit (albeit gradually) your uploads. Thank you for your patience.

Anyone who has been following my stream must have realised by now that I do not know much about photography (not even regarding mountain boots as I discovered recently), but what I do know is that the most precious moments to photograph, as in life itself, are fleeting. Those moments appear and are gone so fast before we even begin to comprehend what they have given us. Capturing images enables us to remember places we have visited and memories we shared. It also enables us to revisit the past. Life, however, has a tendency to move on. So, let's try and appreciate every second we can.

This autumnal scene was taken in the Peak District in a beautiful gem of a place which I discovered by chance. A day which I will never forget.

Gold of Rivendell

After many years I returned to this incredible place during the peak of foliage. This year due to the crazy summer and the long lasting heat the foliage suffered in the whole Alpine Arch, but Rivendell it was marvelous with all his waterfalls and streams. Is hard to share my feelings about this place, I have countless memories and emotions and everytime is so special. At the end of this summer I bought my first drone so I discovered the beauty of exploring landscapes from above. This is my first drone shot I am publishing and I am so excited by the potential of this incredible tool.

For the Brickvention. Nearly done, waiting on some parts to finish off a few things. I feel the need to add more trees but I'm surprised that even with something this large I ran out of space for any more.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone next week and checking out all of the amazing creations at Brickvention this year!

My second micro Lord of the Rings creation, after Edoras. Andrew JN suggested that I build Rivendell, and I was skeptical about being able to pull it off in micro-scale at first. The main build process took a little over 2 weeks, and then I needed to wait a bit longer for parts to arrive to finish the model. It was primarily based off of these two images: picture 1, picture 2.

The model is view-able from all sides, and while one of my most complex micro creations, it was an extremely rewarding build.

Rivendell, also known as Imladris, was an Elven town and the house of Elrond located in Middle-earth. It is described as “The Last Homely House East of the Sea”, referencing towards Valinor, which is west of the Great Sea in Aman.

"Dear Flickr,

Due to both of our unique interests in Lord of the Rings and our supreme passion for the LEGO brick, we decided to combine them into a creation for Brickfair 2012. This was our second time collaborating on a creation (our first collaborative being Amon Hen), and this was definitely the largest, hardest, and most fun project that either of us have worked on. Because of our unique building styles, we complemented each other well and used the best of both our talents to great effect. We chose Rivendell because of its beautiful landscape, its iconic nature, and the fact that it will be in the upcoming Hobbit movie trilogy. It is our hope that you will enjoy the natural beauty and our creative gifts as expressed in this artistic representation of Rivendell, from the Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Signed,

Blake Baer, 16, and Jack Bittner, 16

Well fellas, here she is, The reason why I haven't posted much in the past 4 months. Those of you who were at Brickfair (or saw pics from Brickfair) will recognize this (hopefully). Its impossible to really sum up my experience with this creation in words. Words would fail me both in length and eloquence to express my sentiments about this MOC.

I think I will leave it here for now. I'll write some more a bit later so be sure to check back a later date for a more updated description.

It is our greatest hope that you guys will enjoy this. Please leave a comment letting us know what you think.

And as always, SOLI DEO GLORIA!

-Blake

So, this is my try on a Micro-Rivendell. This was way more complicated as I thought in the beginning. Hope you like it, at least parts of it.

Who wouldn't be reminded of a Tolkien fantasy by a sight like this?

Rivendell was where the Elves lived(Upper Left). It was a quaint little village in the midst of a thick forest of tall trees and lush ferns and creepers where everyone knew everyone else, and life – on the whole – was very good!

There were, however, just a couple of small – well – snags. The first “snag” involved the river that flowed through the midst of the village. The Elves were quite fearful of it because large green monsters (Known by Outsiders as Alligators) lived in the deep, dark, silent pools of the river, and the Elves knew that if they got too close to the edge of the waters, the monsters would suddenly rear out of the nearest pool, spray and water droplets flying, and snatch whichever unfortunate Elf happened to be the nearest to the water’s edge!

The other “snag” involved the Visitors who came to Rivendell, for when they came, the Elves stayed hidden. You see, they were very private Beings and they simply didn’t want Outsiders staring at them.

However, when the sun began to sink behind the surrounding hills, when the fingers of Darkness began to stretch over the Forest from the middle of the afternoon (Upper Right), when the soft damp Mists began to descend across the hills (Lower Right), then that was when the Elves started to come out of hiding. So any visitors to the Park this late in the day would quickly realise that Something or Someone was nearby, because – well – they’d just get that feeling of being watched! And so they would more often than not scurry back to their cars, and drive quickly away to the world they had just come from...

Indeed, it was so eerie, and so – well – spooky in the latter part of the afternoon in the forest that even Pukeko (Lower Left) couldn’t bare to watch, and so she'd bury her head in the sand – or (um) in the mud as the case might be...!

So... Visit Rivendell by all means; it’s a small village nestled deep in the heart of prime New Zealand forest in Kaitoke Regional Park, north of Wellington. But if you come, come ready to use your Imagination because that will probably be the only way that you’ll ever see Rivendell – but who knows? If you look very, very carefully and very, very quietly, you just might be lucky enough to find an Elf hiding beneath a lush green fern...

Oh, and, er, a small postscript: New Zealand doesn’t have Alligators, if truth be known, this story has nothing to do with the Lord Of The Rings movies, the Rivendell Elves were not scared of their river, and (as far as I know), they did not and do not hide from Outsiders... I don't think!

Imladris Karningul, Last Homely House East of the Sea, known as Rivendell by those not of the Elves.

I built this in about ten hours of frantic building over a couple of days for the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics over on MOCpages. I've always been a huge fan of spectacular river scenes, and the contest gave me an excuse to practice a few water techniques. I was inspired by the films, books, Dave Kaleta's version, and Blake Baer's and Jack Bittner's version. More photos can be viewed on MOCpages.

Thanks for dropping by!

And as a completely random fact, I turned 18 on Saturday so I'm now officially an AFOL. Hooray!

My first LOTR MOC! My main goal was to capture the essence of Rivendell in one small vig, do you think i pulled it off?

The MOC is based around the idea of a Gazebo (in Rivendell) hanging over a waterfall.
