21+ years ago, CSX SD40-2 8392 (ex-C&O SD40 7533) leads an ex-Conrail C36-7 and the Q637 past Scioto Tower at Columbus, OH. The former C&O, upon whose tracks I'm standing, called this location LM Cabin. The tower was razed later that year, making this location not worthy of further visits.
This is for David Bowie - the news hit me this morning.
I fell in love with his music at the age of thirteen and since then I was delighted and inspired by his wide range of musical creativity.
Miss his brilliance already now.
Rest in peace, starman, your light is shining forever.

It is with a very broken heart that I inform you that on October 29 our sweet, sweet Matteo passed away suddenly, cause unknown. As most of you know, my husband and I are out of town. My son is taking care of Theo and Matteo. When he returned home from work Saturday evening he found Matteo lying still on the floor. He rushed him to the emergency Vet but it was too late. Our sweet boy has passed on. He was too young.
Those of you who have beloved animals can understand how much a part of our family Matteo was. I don't know how Theo will cope without his brother. I don't know how any of us will cope in the short term.
Even though I spent a day taking photos in a very beautiful park up here, I don't know when I'll be back on. We will drive home and spend some time comforting each other until we can handle the loss.
I'm sorry to have posted such sad news here. But I've shared the boys with Flickr ever since they joined our family, so I felt you should all know. See you all again in the near future.
With a larger than usual train going north to Chatsworth this day, the locos put on a bit of a show as they make 30 or so mph past the large grain elevator at North Jefferson, IA.
Rest In Peace, Jeff. Jeff must have lived a rather humble life in the little community of Goodsprings, Nevada.
Probably more accurately folded Earth- Raplee Ridge rises up as part of a major fold in Earth’s crust (monocline/anticline) with Comb Ridge (another major fold/ monocline) catching the sunset light in the distance. And of course on the left Mexican Hat glows in the last light, with the Cedar Mesa sandstone cap (sombrero) above the residual siltstones below.
Multiple inner organs started failing and he would not eat any more. We will keep him in our hearts. Good bye little boy, we love you!

As of yesterday the Azure Window of Malta is gone. A strong storm weakened this geological formation and subsequently collapsed into the Mediterranean sea. I was fortunate enough to have seen it 6 months ago.
