Ring-billed Gull (Larus delawarensis) waiting out a snowstorm on the frozen urban pond in Hawrelak Park in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

It was a noteworthy bird as it had a tinge of rose colour in the white feathers which is not normal for the species although it is the breeding season.

The male Ring-necked Duck is a sharply marked bird of gleaming black, gray, and white. Females are rich brown with a delicate face pattern. At distance, look for this species’ distinctive, peaked head to help you identify it. Even though this species dives for its food, you can find it in shallow wetlands such as beaver swamps, ponds, and bays. Of all the diving duck species, the Ring-necked Duck is most likely to drop into small ponds during migration.

The Ring of Brodgar is a Neolithic henge and stone circle in Mainland, Orkney, Scotland. It is the only major henge and stone circle in Britain which is an almost perfect circle. Most henges do not contain stone circles; Brodgar is a striking exception, ranking with Avebury and Stonehenge among the greatest of such sites.

Probably a young female or juvenile. I love them. She had no others with her?

This tiny ring barely fits on my little finger. It once belonged to my great great grand mother, Elizabeth Phillips Caples. Her daughter Emma Caples Moree gave it to my mother, who kept it a tiny ring box no more than an inch high. On a small piece of folded paper in the trunk’s lid, Emma had written a note: “for Anna Elisabeth Sherwood the ring worn by her great grandmother Caples.” When I examined my photograph of the ring, I saw an inscription I hadn’t noticed before. It seemed the ring must have belonged to Emma’s aunt Amanda, not her mother, for the name inscribed was not Elizabeth but Amanda. Another of life’s unsolvable mysteries.

One of my favourite compositions at Ringing Roger. I always imagine the eroded rock lit by the sun against a dark sky. But happy with the mix of colours from the warm sun on the frosted landscape.

Ring-Billed Gull (Larus delawarensis) is the common and familiar "Seagull" across much of North America-from coastal beaches to the middle of the continent. Breeding adults have black band across their yellow bill, yellow legs, a pale eye, and a pale gray back.

This guy is part of the common gull family but with a slight variation to the Herring Gull. He has a black ring at the tip of his beak and yellow legs instead of the pink. He posed nicely for my shorebirds collection of images. Happy Wing Wednesday.

Ringed Plover on the mud flats of Lindisfarne

A child peers nervously from the basket of The Liberty Bell hot air balloon as the burners create a glowing ring of fiery light around the envelope during an early morning Balloon Stampede launch in Walla Walla, Washington.

Taken for the Macro Monday theme of iSpy. An object starting with a vowel!

Went looking for these wonderful ducks at one of my usual spots that I find them in and I was not disappointed just like in years past there they were only this time they were in one of the other ponds. Not only did I find my ducks but lots of other great finds so be on the lookout for other photos from my outing today.
