Fledglings enchant me. I'll stop soon and seek another topic. They will move a bit south this month, I think.

Although not much behaves as it did in previous years.

In case you're wondering, "Doslings" is short for "Darling Goslings" in Mother Goose language.

I've been trying to get an image like this over the past couple of weeks so I was pleased to get the right conditions on a brief visit to Big Moor after work this evening. The young stag was with a group of three hinds. I had to get it almost perfectly lined up with the setting sun and shoot straight into the light to get this image, whilst trying not to blind myself.

The sidewalk cafés and shops were closing slowly, and the tourists calmly headed to their cars. Minute for minute, it became a little quieter in the historic district of Bonifacio, so the in the daytime crowded town slowly came to rest for the night.

Only the sun seemingly refused to leave, casting beautiful golden light into the narrow alleys. Just as if the sun wanted to say: "Look here, my friend, I'm still here - and there is still a lot to discover!".

Not a very-detailed image of this Curlew. I decided to go for a rim-lighting effect because the sun was on the 'wrong' side of the subject. This was taken on moorland near Derwent Edge in Derbyshire. The fire--damaged heather that the Curlew is standing amongst gives away the fact that this area of moorland is, unfortunately, managed for grouse shooting.

A snapshot taken of Munro, a friendly dog that was enjoying the sunset with its humans at Over Owler Tor yesterday evening.

Full disclosure. I did a lot of messing about in Lightroom to create this image. I had gone out trying to get some backlit images of Red Deer, with their outlines illuminated by the setting sun. I managed to get into the right line to photograph this doe with a Readybrek outline. But there was also quite a lot of backlit grass in the scene. So I've not only boosted contrast and shadows, but also cloned out all of the backlit grass. I'm going to try to capture the effect over the coming weeks without the need for so much digital jiggery pokery. Original image taken on Big Moor, Derbyshire.

I was struck by the way the low sun was catching the long hair of this horse as it was blown by the wind. I got the horse between me and the sunset and under-exposed the image. I then boosted the contrast, shadows and highlights in post-processing.

Red-winged Blackbird takes off for the unknown. (Probably for one of the feeders.) I do love to watch birds in the morning. Soothing, enchanting, freeing.

Hope for 2021. Many thanks for looking.

Seems a spider can't make up its mind where to spin its web...

Not the best shot imho but I cannot bring myself to delete it. I was actually in this woodland at this particular time to photograph Snowdrops but I saw the web skeins glinting and it seemed quite whimsical to me with web crisscrossing like that :)

The forecast looks like wall-to-wall sunshine for the UK this weekend and the coming week ahead.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend of photography my Flickr friends. Keep shooting and stay safe. Enjoy!

We were out for a walk at the river "Tiroler Ache" near Schleching. The light and the haze in the mountains gave the whole scene a magic atmosphere. And she was on her way...

Dark-eyed Juncos have returned!

"Dark-eyed Juncos are neat, even flashy little sparrows that flit about forest floors of the western mountains and Canada, then flood the rest of North America for winter. They’re easy to recognize by their crisp (though extremely variable) markings and the bright white tail feathers they habitually flash in flight. Dark-eyed Juncos are among the most abundant forest birds of North America."

Always lovely to watch barn owls, drifting in the saturated light either end of the day

The low sun at the end of a visit to Yorkshire Wildlife Park at the weekend enabled me to get this image of a relaxed lion and his attendant flies.
