It was very dark late in the day under the forest canopy so I did not think I would be able to get a usable photo of this Barred Owl. I set the ISO to 8000 and dropped the shutter speed to a ridiculously slow 1/50 (at 600mm) and fired off a couple of shots handheld. Surprisingly a couple of shots turned out ok.
Imperfection is beauty. Madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring – Marilyn Monroe
In the style of Maurizio Cattelan. Contemporary art. Who am I to argue that? Of course if anyone wants to pay $120,000 (£91,000) for my banana please message me.
thank goodness for AC. All the animals are fine. Dogs are inside with me, goose and duck in their enclosure in their swimming pool and Cav is handling the heat very well. He's drinking lots of water though.
Why this title?
Some "administrators" who create groups, such as dictators in their small kingdom, like to reject photos that have been suggested. These meet the requirements, however. Especially for me when it comes to Black & white ...
But art, so unpretentious, that I can call my photo works, cannot be censored. And if it is not in these small groups ruled by dictatorship, stupidity and egocentricity it will be elsewhere. There are always windows open to offer what I love to create.

Whenever I take the grandkids to their Junior School I can’t help but notice these lonely benches at the junction of Crown and Trent Streets., Worksop in Nottinghamshire. They are always empty! Put in a ridiculous position, in the middle of an estate of low income senior citizens bungalows, they never appear to have anyone sitting there!
The old people usually sit in their gardens and avoid these benches. This is not the sort of neighbourhood where people are apt to take walks either.
Why the planners stick the benches in odd places like this is mystifying! Maybe it looked good on the original plans?

VIA 059-23 had originated the day prior and is seen here passing mile 327 of the Kingston Sub somewhere around 12 hours behind normal schedule. The storm of December 23rd had led to multiple issues including fallen trees, frozen switches, reduced visibility, etc. all causing significant delays for trains. It didn't get much better after this picture, as at around the same time this photo was taken, CN 122 derailed into 305 at Grafton effectively removing both mainline tracks from service for the next couple days. Combine it with the fact that it's the Christmas season with employees off work, and you have the perfect storm of events to grind the rails to a halt for numerous days. As of the 27th when I write this, VIA has just resumed service on a reduced schedule due to derailment cleanup.

God, hear me!
They told me you didn't exist, and I trusted them like a jerk.
But last night, in the garnet hole, I saw your heaven.
Suddenly, I realized they were lying to me.
If I tried to take a good look
on the things you created,
I'd understand right away that those
they denied that the cat is cat.
It's strange that I had to
get to this hell,
so I can have time to see your face
I like you so much...
That's what I wanted you to know.
There's going to be a terrible battle coming up.
Who knows?
Maybe I'll come to your place tonight.
We weren't good friends,
And I'm asking, my God,
will you be waiting for me at the door?
Look, this is how I cry!
I'm the one who's here going to start whining!
If only I'd known you sooner...
let's go! We have to go now!
It's ridiculous:
When I met you,
I'm not afraid to die anymore.
goodbye!
A prayer found in the backpack of a soldier who died in 1944 at the Battle of Montecassino ...
Ridiculously excited to see for myself yesterday evening something I've only ever seen in other people's photos before! A bee roosting by clamping its' jaws onto a plant! Thanks to Ed and afterforty‽ for the ID help. It seems this is a Sharp-tailed Bee - Coelioxys sp.
Another shot that was a real challenge. Again, mostly because of all of the annoying people everywhere. The road next to me was constantly busy, and I was worried that the hat was gonna fly into traffic. The walkway was nearly always packed.
But Mooby would not be denied.
I then had a chip cob.
Note: THIS IS MY MAIN photo of the three (i.e. the very last photo posted) I'm posting today! Flickr is messing up yet AGAIN, showing my photos in a different order from what I post, when some people look at them, which drives me nuts! Often, my second and third photos are much poorer quality (sometimes downright awful, lol), so that is what people see instead of what is usually the best of the three. They are always displayed in the right order on my photostream. I can tell this image is not being seen, as there are already 11 or 12 views on my second and third photo and nothing on this one. I've just deleted it and uploaded it again to see if that helps, but I suspect not. OK, so yes, it is at least now being seen : )

After a long day out at Frank Lake on Saturday and then checking the upcoming weather forecast, Sunday, 20 March 2016, looked like it was going to be the only decent day of the coming week. Of course, we all know that weather forecasts can change. So, my alarm clocks were all set ridiculously early, though I still left home a bit later than I had intended, and I took myself NW of the city again to see if I could see an owl.
Just a handful of friends were there and we got a few moments of great views of this Great Gray Owl, including a very brief stop (seen in this photo) on top of a small coniferous tree right in front of us while it was hunting. I think it took all of us by surprise. During the rest of the time, I did see an owl fly off into the trees a couple of times, but the rest of the time was spent waiting and chatting with my friends. Patience .....
While we were waiting, someone spotted a beautiful male Mountain Bluebird way down the road. I am pretty sure I had caught a quick glimpse of another Bluebird on my drive to my destination. Also, I seem to remember catching a quick sight of another one recently, but can't for the life of me remember where or when. It's always such a thrill to see a Bluebird, especially the very first of the season. That flash of bright blue takes ones breath away. Two beautiful birds to see on this first day of spring!
"Although the Great Gray Owl is the tallest American owl with the largest wingspan, it is just a ball of feathers. It preys on small mammals and has relatively small feet. Both the Great Horned and Snowy owls weigh half again as much, and have larger feet and talons. The oldest recorded Great Gray Owl was at least 18 years, 9 months old and lived in Alberta." I am still compiling a list of sensible groups and also a list of nonsensical groups. I will not be adding or inviting to arrogant groups that have ridiculous rules that no-one can follow. I advise you to do the same to make Flickr fun again.
Help make Flickr fun again!
So normally a new doll is happy time. But this time it isn't! The quality of this doll is ridiculous!
1: I couldn't get her earrings on
2: I couldn't get her 2nd outfit on
3: Her first shirt is cut out way to low, it doesn't cover her boobs at all ;S
So these things are not that bad BUT when I tried to remove her jacket I hold her hand and tried to put the sleeve of her freaking hand BROKE OFF!! I'm so mad !!! I mailed the store that I want a new one our a replacement. But actually I don't wanna send this girl back becouse she does have a flawless face ): I hope I can get my money back and can keep this one >_> I put her hand back and it can moves like the other only not twist if you don't hold her hand so..

Sunday: I HATE working Sunday. They are ridiculously busy. I just spent the whole day working the floor, & my feet were raw by the end of the day. I need better shoes. Some of the customers were ridiculous. One woman sent back her SANDWICH because there was butter on the bread. IT'S A SANDWICH. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? My Dad came to pick me up at about 5.40pm & I was so glad to leave. Everyone was still shutting up, but I couldn't leave my Dad waiting. =D Enya, from my brother's year at school, also worked today, & her mum came to pick her up before tidying had finished so she left early too. When I got home I just collapsed in a chair & my Mom offered me a foot bath. I went upstairs to get changed (practically crawling) & I came back down & she had it all ready for me. She'd thought about it all before I'd got home & got the Radox from the bathroom, & I just thought that was so sweet. I fell asleep so soundly.
Monday: I got into work today & Kate introduced me to Tal. He works week days too. We set up together, but Kate got annoyed with how he did everything wrong (even though he'd been working there a while) so he quickly got sent to wash up duty. Charlotte was in & taught me how to use the till. I worked the floor again & had lunch with Charlie (Charlotte). Carrot & Sweet Pepper soup. It was cold outside so we ended up eating in Kate's office. My shift ended at 3.30pm so I called my Dad to come get me - luckily he wasn't in a meeting. I meant to upload to flickr when I got home, but I was so tired. In the evening I went to Choral Society with my Mom. Everyone I knew from last year has left, so I just sat awkwardly with the Sopranos - the people I knew were in the Alto section with my Mom. They couldn't get the lights to work, so my Mom told Mr Paul that I knew how to work the lights in the box, so he chucked me the keys & I went to play around with the lights in the box. I managed to light up most of the room, but it was quite embarrassing with everyone watching. I was so tired that at the end I just wanted to drag my Mom home. We finally left & I was practically straight to bed.
We went to Legaspi City for a wedding shoot in Misibis Bay Island Resort, last January 8, 2011. On our way to Legaspi, we stopped a lot to take some photos. The whole trip started when we left Manila at January 7 and returned on the 13th.
These photos document the 6th day of our 7 day adventure!
After a very dismal evening spent in Hotel Venezia, we woke up to a good breakfast! Good enought to start our day!
Off we head towards Naga, but this time passing counter clockwise Mayon Volcano, via Tabaco! Given more time I would like to have passed by Buhi lake, home of the worlds smallest commercial fish! The highway was long and empty! We passed through mountains and along the way saw many local kids who looked like they were on their way to, and from, school, and also a lot of kids who looked like they didn't belong to any school! www.manilatimes.net/index.php/opinion/columnist/1176-worl...
Before reaching the mountain hiway, we passed by the once famous Tiwi Hot Springs, located in the town of Tiwi. Today the spring pools are still existing, but not anymore heated, because of the geothermal plant nearby that uses the heat energy for creating electricity.
Somewhere around cloud height, we asked a local for a photo, and he demanded a ridiculously high price. We finally gave him only P50.00, but this woman suddenly came from out of nowhere and started begging for money, actually more like demanding us to give her P150.00!
The route was very scenic, with the ocean on our right, with large waves and strong winds! The drive was very smooth and easy, with hardly any cars or vehicles using the highway.
We arrived Naga and decided to pass by their famous cathedral. I can't seem to find the name on the web so I have no idea which church or cathedral we went to. We also accidentally found a small and really really old-looking church that we were able to photograph on the outside. It's made of bricks. I would appreciate if anyone can give me the name of these two churches.
We had a quick lunch, or snack, then headed towards Daet through the most beautiful hiway I've even seen in our country! The trees were beautiful, the road was beautiful, the scenes were beautiful, everything was beautiful!
Arriving Daet, we were faced with a problem, a place to stay. After driving to far distances reaching over 20 kilometers from Daet for an appropriate resort, a kind security guard told us about Catherine's Resort in Bagasbas, near the airport, and only 3 kilometers from the city. So far, Catherine's Resort is the second best place to rest in this trip, but the best resort so far! A real bargain at around P2,400 a night, with breakfast for two, and the food they serve is EXQUISITE! I cannot find any website of the resort, but here's a wiki map of it: wikimapia.org/17487213/Catherine-s-Resort-and-Restaurant
I hope you enjoy the photos. 8-)
The Forth Bridge is a way larger structure than it needs to be. The reason for this is that after the Tay Bridge in nearby Dundee collapsed, the public didn't trust big bridges any more. So engineers John Fowler and Benjamin Baker were tasked to design a bridge that would reinstate the trust of passengers through it's look alone.
To get a sense of how huge this bridge is: There is a train in this picture. Try to find it.
We do tend to forget, since they're so ridiculous common in winter, around here.

This is the corner of a tray that contained chocolates. What a waste of resources! While I’m having a moan, another of my pet hates is the waste of resources used when packing things like biscuits! They come in a box that’s twice as big as is needed sometimes also wrapped in foil and paper then placed in a plastic tray before being packed in the aforementioned oversized box.
ridiculously delicate snowfall this evening, and look how far west the sun is setting! how did it get to be late march already…?
Dennes Point, Bruny Island under the ridiculous colours generated by the huge geomagnetic storm of 11 May, 2024.
Stars of the rising Milky Way clearly visible in the upper center. Bugger all post. Tone adjustments, curves, very fine tweaks of white balance. Localised structure in Vivezia. Just nuts...
