(1958) (N1249N)Founded by John Paul Riddle in 1945, Riddle Airlines went on to become a large cargo carrier
with supplemental military contracts for both freight and passengers. It began with passenger
and cargo charter service to Brazil in in 1946. It also operated irregular passenger flights from
New York to Miami and San Juan in 1947. The CAB put a stop to this practice when it was
deemed that the company was operating as a scheduled airline. In 1965 the name was changed
to Airlift International. As such it acquired Slick Airways in 1968. Airlift International ceased
operations in 1991. Over the years the company has operated, in addition to a large fleet of
some 50 C-46s, the following equipment types: DC-4, DC-6, DC-7, Armstrong Whitworth
Argosy, and DC-8 'Jet Trader'
The Riddler (Edward Nigma) is a fictional character, a comic book supervillain published by DC Comics, and an enemy of Batman.
The Riddler is obsessed with riddles, puzzles, and word games. He delights in forewarning both Batman and the police of his capers by sending them complex clues. The character is often depicted as wearing a domino mask either with a green suit and bowler hat, or a green unitard with question mark prints. A black, green, or purple question mark serves as his visual motif.
Unlike most of the other prominent members of Batman's rogues gallery, the Riddler is not a psychopathic murderer; rather, he is a malignant narcissist with an enormous ego. He commits his crimes in order to flaunt his intellectual superiority and a large portion of his crimes are non-violent in nature. While the Riddler's behavior may often appear insane to some, it is in fact the result of a deep-seated neurosis. As such Batman's direct conflicts with the Riddler are typically more cerebral than physical and usually involve defeating him non-violently.
Edward embraced the mastery of puzzles of all kinds, eventually becoming a carnival employee who excelled at cheating his customers out of their money with his bizarre puzzles and mind games. He soon finds himself longing for greater challenges and thrills, and dons the guise of the Riddler to challenge Batman, who he believes could possibly be a worthy adversary for him.

Eden Bridge Gardens are ornamental gardens. Built by Percy Dalton, the City's Engineer, in the early 1930's from a design by Prentice Mawson. Eden Bridge Gardens are laid out with planted borders, shrubberies and ornamental ponds, with numerous sitting places for quiet contemplation overlooking the City of Carlisle and the River Eden.
Rickerby Park is a public open space in Carlisle, Cumbria on the banks of the River Eden. The parkland is dotted with mature trees, beneath which cattle and sheep graze the sweet pasture grasses. A riverbank path follows the sweeping bends of the Eden and, by crossing the Memorial Bridge, you can complete a circular walk back to the city centre on the opposite bank. Nearby is Rickerby Hall and the village of Rickerby.
The manor of Rickerby has been owned by a number of families, specifically the Tilliols, Rickerbys, Pickerings, Westons, Musgraves, Studholmes, Gilpins, Richardsons, and Grahams.
In the 19th century it was owned by the banker George Head Head. In 1876, George Head Head died and Miles MacInnes, a justice of the Peace, succeeded to the 940 acres of Rickerby where he owned all the land. In 1914 the estate was broken up and sold off up by the trustees of the MacInnes estate.
In 1920 the Citizens League purchased the area known today as Rickerby Park for £11,500. In a joint scheme with the Corporation (now Carlisle City Council), Rickerby Park was dedicated as a memorial to the fallen of the Great War of 1914-1918. The Memorial Bridge, from St Aidans Road was erected along with the Memorial Cenotaph.
On 25 May 1922, Rickerby Park was formally opened and handed over to the City of Carlisle for the benefit of the public.
Our inspiration this week at digitalmania was more medieval fairy tale than Egyptian, but I have had Ancient Egypt in my head all week.
I am afraid that my pieces might not qualify to be included in this weeks challenge, but I couldn't seem to stop myself from googling pictures of the 1917 Theda Bara version of Cleopatra.
The costumes and the glamor! I love old Hollywood and then combine that with Ancient Egypt. ...
I couldn't resist!
Also. I do realize that my sphinx is actually the Greek myth version, but she seemed to fit in the background so perfectly.
