An unusual way to get around the city, with rickshaws available to transport you to see the sights of Paris.

rickshaw, perhaps you know where?

Another one of those situations when I was asked to take a picture. Although I was glad he asked. Allahabad rickshaws have the most beautiful carriages - with fancy paintings and embroidered tops. If I had time to just go around and take pictures of all these carriages, I would definitely do that.

And now tell me if this guy is not wearing a Harley Davidson shirt. Because it certainly looks like one.

Rickshaws (or rickshas) are a mode of human-powered transport: a runner draws a two-wheeled cart which seats one or two persons. Rickshaws are commonly made with bamboo. The word rickshaw came from Asia, where they were mainly used as means of transportation for the social elite. In recent times the use of rickshaws has been discouraged or outlawed in many countries due to concern for the welfare of rickshaw workers

Colorful public transportation is the hallmark of Pakistani roads. Buses, trucks, vans, and rickshaws are adorned with loud colors and exotic designs. A pimped out vehicle is a matter of pride for the vehicle owner.

Rickshaw stand beside rail line near a platform. Shot taken from running train. Here in West Bengal in India , Rickshaw is still a major transportation vehicle for short distance. Most common charge is Rs/-20 ( 1/3 of a $ ) for a trip of 1 - 2 km distance.

There's a slope leading to one of the pathway loops in the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto. I watched as the rickshaw men took on the challenge of getting their passengers safely up the slope. It wasn't easy for any of them. I think the expressions on faces here help tell the story.
