Testing out a few methods for a pan seared ribeye steak. I have seen quite a few methods for this beautiful and flavorful cut of meat, but for me it's about the right amount of sear, as well as flavor!

Two Sandhill cranes fly overhead bugling to one another as they return to spend a few months in their favorite state. These cranes have up to 18 different vocalizations they use in communication and their unique sound can be heard from over two miles away. They are one of Minnesota’s earliest flying returners as they start coming back in late March.
There are two populations of cranes in Minnesota; the mid-continent population cranes that mainly locate in northwestern Minnesota and the eastern population throughout most of the rest of our state. There are a lot of eastern population cranes with numbers estimated to exceed 75,000.
In 2012, our state initiated a crane hunting season in the northwestern segment and although I can’t conceive of shooting and eating a crane, those who do call it the “Ribeye of the Sky”.
Want to see a larger group of cranes? During staging days of their migration departure, a typical November day at the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge in Sherburne County will see 14,000 cranes gathered although this past November a record was set with more than 29,000 counted.
A big Wagyu Tomahawk ribeye, fed three men and one petite woman. Seared on the iron, then placed in the oven with thyme and garlic. Removed at 125 degrees internally. Perfect medium rare. Drenched in drippings and butter before serving. Wagyu is the crack of steak. Try it one time and you are hooked!

We went tent camping at Frozen Head State Park from Saturday, April 26th through Monday, April 28th.
Saturday evening we had: Ribeye Steak, Idahoan Mashed Potatoes and canned corn for dinner.
Sunday morning I heated up Banquet Sausage links and Great Value Egg makers. We made Breakfast burritos with some Shredded cheddar cheese and pickled Jalepaños. For lunch, I made Pudgy pies (campfire pizza on white bread; with Pizza sauce, Shredded Mozzarella cheese and Pepperoni slices ). And for dinner we grilled Chicken breast, Shrimp, White onion and Peppers. We made fajitas.
I captured a time-lapse of the charcoal grill heating up (fuel burning off the charcoal briquettes), two slow shutter clips of our campfire and a star trail of the tree canopy and night sky.
Monday morning we packed up our camping gear in the car. Then we hiked from the Panther Run Trailhead up to DeBord Falls and back to our Subaru. Then we drove home!

This healthy looking juvenile eagle looks like he is trying to decide what type of cut he wants for his early morning breakfast. After watching him eat for a few minutes I decided he wasn't very choosy.
