Church of Saint Fosca is a small sanctuary in Istria (Croatia) that people have been visiting for a long period of time because popular belief is that Fosca can heal and help people. That is because the church is situated on the center of powerful energy fields that healed many people and that every individual feels on his way. You can feel shudder, heat, coldness, pain or something else. Saint Fosca is protector from headache, rheumatism and arthritis.
Rocchetta Mattei was the home of count Cesare Mattei, a scholar, politician and self-taught physician who founded electrohomeopathy, a practice founded on homeopathy.
On November 5, 1850, the first stone of Rocchetta Mattei was laid, and as early as 1859 it became habitable and eventually Cesare Mattei’s permanent residence. Inside Rocchetta Mattei, the count led a life as a medieval castellan and even created a court, complete with a buffoon.
The castle hosted illustrious individuals who came from everywhere to undergo Mattei's treatment, including Ludwig III of Bavaria and Alexander II of Russia. In 1925, there was an official visit by the Prince of Piedmont. Even Fyodor Dostoevsky quotes the Count in The Brothers Karamazov, when he tells the devil he managed to recover from terrible rheumatism thanks to a book and some drops from Count Mattei.[

Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare) is a perennial, herbaceous flowering plant of the aster family, native to temperate Europe and Asia. It has been introduced to other parts of the world, including North America, and in some areas has become invasive. It is also known as common tansy, bitter buttons, cow bitter, or golden buttons. Tansy has a long history of use. It was first recorded as being cultivated by the ancient Greeks for medicinal purposes. In the 8th century AD it was grown in the herb gardens of Charlemagne and by Benedictine monks of the Swiss monastery of Saint Gall. Tansy was used to treat intestinal worms, rheumatism, digestive problems, fevers, sores, and to bring out measles. 26277

This is a pain relief pen and works the same way as a TENS machine just without the wires, pads and batteries. It can help to provide effective relief for many conditions or injuries including; Arthritis, Sciatica, Rheumatism, Back Pain, Migraine, Tennis Elbow and other Sports Injuries.
I don't use it that often in fact it has been used more times for Macro Monday photos.
For this photo I combined two shots, one with my little finger and the pen and a second with the spark jumping from the pen head to an earthed piece of metal......I don't like getting shocked not that this device is painful but trying to take a photo while zapping your finger is something I didn't want to try 😂

The Chippewa Indians are know to use Indian Paintbrush as a medicine to treat rheumatism and as a bath rinse to make their hair glossy. Both applications are useful due to it's selenium content. The Indian paintbrush (Castilleja) is a native wildflower in the family Scrophulariaceae (Figwort Family).

The history of the currant is comparatively young, the plant has only been known since the Middle Ages. The shrubs owe their name to John the Baptist. Because their fruits ripen around his memorial day, St. John's Day, on June 24th. The nuns and monks used them against gout and rheumatism as well as against scurvy.
Red currants are small vitamin bombs. They contain a number of vitamins in high concentrations, promote health through their high content of vitamins C, A, B, E and K as well as minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium and copper. They strengthen the immune system, improve skin, hair and eyes and can help with colds or vein problems.
But of course jams and jellies or cakes with currants are also delicious,
ces petites fleurs ont un parfum délectable.

Common uses for this species included poultices for treatment of sores, boiling in tea or a steam bath for rheumatism, or smoked to treat colds. The plant is also among many native species used as a tobacco substitute.

The Family of Lycopodiums
They are quiet during the day
But as the evening light shows
Well, then it happens
The worm hole opens
The energy explodes
The visitors are coming
It's the best party ever
Every time
So next time you are seeing these plants
Beware
They are full of energy
The good energy
Pick some
Take them back to your house
They'll bring your house in balance
And even maybe help you to get into balance
It's easy to see which one to pick as the autumn comes
You'll see the light green tips among the darker green ones
Just as the one on the photo here, at the back in the middle
Why not pick next time you see them
Funfact from Wikipedia:
Lycopodium sp. herb has been used in the traditional Austrian medicine internally as tea or externally as compresses for treatment of disorders of the locomotor system, skin, liver and bile, kidneys and urinary tract, infections, rheumatism, and gout,[3] though claims of efficacy are unproven.
It has also been used in some US government chemical warfare test programs such as Operation Dew.
Lycopodium powder is also used to determine the molecular size of oleic acid.

I worried a lot. Will the garden grow, will the rivers
flow in the right direction, will the earth turn
as it was taught, and if not how shall
I correct it?
Was I right, was I wrong, will I be forgiven,
can I do better?
Will I ever be able to sing, even the sparrows
can do it and I am, well,
hopeless.
Is my eyesight fading or am I just imagining it,
am I going to get rheumatism,
lockjaw, dementia?
Finally I saw that worrying had come to nothing.
And gave it up. And took my old body
and went out into the morning,
and sang.

Okay, sand therapy causes a state of total relaxation and contains a large number of virtues, it is effective in eliminating toxins, relieving rheumatisms and stimulates blood circulation, well that's what they say, but still, sir, isn't that a bit too much? You can't even breathe!
And the guy over there isn't leaving with your stuff ?

The famous thermal springs of Saturnia are widely known and a popular destination, not only for tourists. Also the residents of the region like to use the healing effect of the hot sulfur springs during a relaxing bath in the midst of a beautiful natural landscape.
Even in ancient times, Dante rapturously mentioned the famous Terme di Saturnia in his Divine Comedy. The hot sulfur springs of Saturnia have a healing effect on joints and skin and generally strengthen the well-being. A particularly beneficial effect is noted for rheumatism and arthritis. From the thermal spring 800 liters of sulfurous 37°C warm healing water gush out every second.
The thermal town of Saturnia belongs to the province of Grosseto and is located in the south of Tuscany, in the Maremma. The village with about 600 inhabitants is situated on a hill about 4 km north of the famous waterfall. It is one of the first Etruscan towns in Italy. Some remains of the ring wall from Etruscan times can still be seen next to the Porta Romana. The castle of Saturnia is privately owned and therefore unfortunately cannot be visited.
Most tourists, however, are attracted less by the medieval village than by the famous waterfall of Saturnia. If you travel from the direction of Manciano, the waterfall can already be seen from the road, next to a restored mill. The water cascades down a rock wall, collects in a natural pool and then falls again from a grotto into step-like sinter pools. There, visitors can then bask in the healing sulfur water free of charge. The free bathing pleasure can be enjoyed all year round and at any time of the day or night.
In South Africa this pretty Lily is called Varkblom or Varklelie, Hog Flower or Hog Lily. That name derives from the propensity of Hogs to root for the tubers of our plant. Actually, I rather like that name. The wallowing mud of Pigs stands in fine contrast to the pure white of these flowers. I don't know whether pigs get rheumatism from all that wallowing; but the leaves of this Lily serve to alleviate its symptoms in human beings.
Zantedeschia is for Giovanni Zantedeschi (1773-1846), a friend and lively correspondent of well-known and versatile Kurt Sprengel (1766-1833), a physician and botanist. The latter published a series of books on the history of medicine, but is best remembered for his pioneering microscopic work on the tissues of plants.

Plums and damsons promote digestion, have an anti-inflammatory effect on rheumatism, and are beneficial for osteoporosis.

From the internet:- "Queen Elizabeth I adorned her apartments with Meadowsweet. In the Middle Ages, Meadowsweet was known as “meadwort” because it was used to flavor mead, an alcoholic drink made by fermenting honey & fruit juices. The plant was used in folk medicine for cancer, tumors, rheumatism & as a diuretic. Today, it is used as a digestive remedy, as supportive therapy for colds, for analgesia & for other indications"
Today we had the first of many cold days, if we shall trust the weather forecast. We are in a cold weather front coming all the way from Siberia, and it will stay here for a at least a week, maybe till Easter. But weather forecast is the only science where my late uncles rheumatism did a better job!
This is the two farms named Skarestad, with Blånipa rising in the background. It is about in the middle of Fjaerland. So 1,5 km further down by the fjord there are less snow, while in the valley at the right there are more snow. Strange how much it can change in such a short distance, with hardly any difference in height above sea level.

Episode XLVIII
Hi Folks,
first of all, a big Thank You to all who sent us their good advice !!!
SHE really phoned the builder to help us out with the car. It was not even necessary to demolish the outer wall of the house. As the builder is a very strong man, he carried the car out of the house and we could have our first drive – with the complete family. Have you ever seen a man carrying a car ??? We haven’t ! The old cat, which might suffer from rheumatism was allowed to use our little racer as it makes it easier for him to get from one end of the Wild Garden to the other. We guess he enjoyed his trip as much as we enjoyed ours. The family car runs perfectly. Due to the heavy traffic in this Wild Garden, SHE had a big present for us – two traffic lights which help to make this place a bit safer. With our new BearRover we plan to go on a trip around the world, providing SHE will allow this, which we doubt – but first let us explore together all hidden places in our wonderful Wild Garden. We are the happiest Bear Family on this planet because we know that
"LESS IS MORE!!! "

Coltsfoot grows abundantly throughout Europe, especially along the sides of railway banks and in waste places, on poor stiff soils, growing as well in wet ground as in dry situations. It has long-stalked, hoof-shaped leaves, about 4 inches across, with angular teeth on the margins. Both surfaces are covered, when young, with loose, white, felted woolly hairs, but those on the upper surface fall off as the leaf expands. This felty covering easily rubs off and before the introduction of matches, wrapped in a rag dipped in a solution of saltpetre and dried in the sun, used to be considered an excellent tinder.
Coltsfoot has been used in herbal medicine internally as tea or syrup or externally (directly applied) for treatment of disorders of the respiratory tract (dry cough and throat irritation), skin, locomotor system, viral infections, flu, colds, fever, rheumatism and gout.

Sieger was a passionate naturalist and also a beekeeper. He believed that bee poisons could be developed into a medicine against rheumatism.
This morning I didn't see many bees, but there were lots of Snowdrops in the glades of the park. The photo was taken from a litte hand-drawn ferry that crosses this ditch to access ultimately the so-called Nieuwe Meer.
Ica -Huacachina Lagoon 2022 1119
Huacachina is built around a small natural desert lake, commonly referred to as the "oasis of America". According to local legends, the water and mud of the area are therapeutic. Both locals and tourists often bathe in the waters or cover themselves with the mud in an attempt to cure ailments such as arthritis, rheumatism, asthma, and bronchitis.
The lake was created by natural seepage from underground aquifers, but the increase in well-drilling started to threaten that supply in the early 2000s. To compensate for the loss, and preserve the oasis as a destination for tourists, local business groups began pumping water into the lake in 2015.
On Sunday I took a drive down to the Cornish coast and had a wander around various places. The weather report said it would be cloudy for a few hours then clear up later on.
My first stop was Wheal Coates near St Agnes, and when I arrived it was really overcast with lots of low cloud coming over the cliffs.
Visibility wasn't great and I was a bit disheartened as I knew I wouldn't get a decent shot at this location. So I had a wander around the coastal path for an hour or so, fired off a few shots and then headed to my next location. Coming home and editing this shot the low cloud actually gives it a bit of drama and with the area's history I think it suits the shot to a tee.
Wheal Coates is an old Cornish tin mine, operating between 1802 and 1889, 140 people worked deep underground in cramped and stifling conditions. Most men working here were considered old and worn out at 40, Many suffered with bronchitis, silicosis, TB and rheumatism.
Accidents caused by explosions, falling, rock falls, drowning and entanglement in machinery were a real danger and took many lives.
I don't think I would be cut out to work here, knowing how rough the Cornish coast can be it must have taken a much harder man than me to survive in a job like that.
"There are no rules of architecture for a castle in the clouds" G. K. Chesterton
The castle Rocchetta Mattei (literally "small fortress Mattei") is situated in the mountan chain of the Apennines between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. It is 45 km away from Bologna, on the SS.64 (road) that links Bologna to Porretta Terme, just after the town of Riola, in the municipality of Grizzana Morandi.
It was built by the Count Cesare Mattei (1809-1896) on the remains of an ancient medieval castle that belonged to Matilde di Canossa (a.k.a. Matilda of Tuscany).
In the beginning the Count was an army man, than a politician, than a science man, a scholar, a philanthropist and an entrepreneur. He personally directed the constuction of the castle "having on his command artisans of every trade".
The fusion of different architectural styles, such as the Medieval Gothic with the Moorish style, make the Rocchetta a mesmeric and fantastic place, full of small rooms very expertly decorated and linked together by a labyrinthine plan mixed together with lodges, spiral staircases and towers. Two of the most appealing spaces are “Il Cortile dei Leoni” (The Lions’ Courtyard), which is a reproduction of the courtyard of the Alhambra of Granada (Spain), and the chapel, which was built like the Cathedral of Cordoba (Spain).
The Count built the Rocchetta for one specific reason, he wanted it to be the cradle of his invention: Electro-Homoeopathy, a type of medicine that by using natural herbs and a secret process of preparation was meant to cure the man from all the diseases.
This type of medicine spread quickly and it made the Count and the castle very well known worldwide. Dostoevskij, in his "The Brothers Karamazov" ,states its importance when he tells the devil that he was finally healed from a very painful case of rheumatism thanks to a book and some drops from the Count Mattei.
The Foundation Carisbo bought it in 2005 and the beginning of the massive restoration of what can be visited today.

This is tansy which I made the mistake of planting in my garden as it grows like a weed and tends to take over, it has pretty flowers though.
It has many uses herbally -it has been used to treat worms, migraine, rheumatism and neuralgia for example but care has to be taken as it's toxic in large quantities.
In behavioral terms, the old woman pushing an empty stroller
is not mourning but repeating —
a learned rhythm of movement,
once rewarded by presence,
However,
the truth is that it is most likely rheumatism.

Herons are quite abundant in the UK, but I still get joy from seeing one. To me they give off a kind of jurassic vibe when they fly by - it's as though the bird has flown in from prehistoric times.
For most people, these are the largest birds we will see in the UK - they have a wingspan of about 6 feet, but are quite light in stature. Compared with a greylag goose, say, they are around half the weight.
Odd fact from the old days - The fat of a heron killed at full moon was once believed to be a cure for rheumatism.
...and for those of you wanting to keep herons from eating your goldfish, herons are quite social birds, so plastic decoy herons are *more likely* to lure birds to a pond than frighten them away from it.
Indian Paintbrush is one of my favorite flowers in our high desert on the Western Slope of Colorado.
Did you know the Indian Paintbrush has several aliases and uses?
The Navajo Indians used the plant for medicinal purposes.
Native Americans soaked the plant in grease to make a hair oil.
The name Grandmother's Hair is attributed to the Chippewa Indians who used the plant to treat women's diseases and rheumatism.

The city is known for its mild climate and warm, slightly radioactive thermal springs. The sources work against rheumatism and other joint diseases. There is also a large spa, 16 sanatoriums and motels. Since the city was accessible by rail in 1934, 100,000 patients come to the city every year.
Hallerhof Castle
The first mention of the castle, then a farmstead, dates from 1625.
Around 1830, Baron de Caters bought the castle. He had renovations carried out and turned the estate into a real castle park. After his death, the domain passes to other owners.
In the early 20th century, Baron Victor de Borrekens demolishes the old castle and builds a completely new one.
After Baron de Borrekens' death, the castle is sold and used as a centre for readaptation and rheumatism.
In 1978, the municipal authorities bought the entire estate and restored the castle. The estate was opened as a park and the castle became the home of municipal services.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to visit this place in the middle of the Swiss Alps with my buddy Olaf! A fantastic small walk to get at this location … well honestly I have to say that the small walk felt like a strong and long hike under a pitiless and hot sun in the afternoon to get there for the sunset ha ha ha :-) Man we were slow like a snail with rheumatism … carrying a heavy backpack with too much equipment. Even older people overtook us with ease during out trip to the location he he he ;-) But it was a lot of fun … to shoot with a friend is really so cool ;-))
Well, I think this will be my last upload for a while … due to my vacations. I wish everybody a cool summer ;-)

A sweet and gentle wayside flower. Primula vulgaris. But nothing vulgar about these gems of woodland floors.
You can eat the flowers in salads raw or cooked in custards or baked in tarts. The leaves are best raw in salads. They have a slight anise flavor.
Boil flowers in lard to make an ointment for cuts and skin conditions. Make a tisane with the flowers for rheumatism and to ease the mind.
All from this charming flower. You can even just look at them 😄
