Detail of Paul Signac's 'Setting Sun. Sardine Fishing. Adagio. Opus 221' - which belongs at Moma and is online here: www.moma.org/collection/works/80023 but currently in London's National Gallery as part of 'After Impressionism' - and much more exciting in the flesh than in reproduction, imo...

It always fascinates me how we, as a planet suffer differently right across the globe & live our lives in our own special ways. Yet here i am, witnessing one of Gods greatest creations, the same creation which can be seen by the very same people, on the same planet but at a different time. Here.....the mood is calm, surreal, peaceful. I can stand here look across gather my thoughts on this extremely cold morning. Whether it be the moon, stars or indeed the sun...she really does see everything going around on this tiny planet which can be so vast & cruel.

When you awaken today.....look out the window, start of another day of the Revolutionary World

Reflects how I feel today (old).

Coronavirus cases are still rising, we have a new mutated strain in the news and we are heading for a 5 day period of reduced restrictions and festivities.

Feels like a recipe for disaster. The local hospital has starting to close wards due to a lack of trained staff, over 500 staff are isolating because of the virus.

(The beret looks better with a cap badge - - even if this one is a Christmas decoration).

Hidden away amongst the original colonial streets of the Blackstone Block Historic District in the North End and surrounded by the modern city it eventually nurtured, is the Green Dragon Tavern, an homage to the original tavern that stood just around the corner on Union Street and was used as "Headquarters of the Revolution" by the legendary Sons of Liberty whose members included such American luminaries as Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock and others. Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Revolutionary

The beret became a symbol of revolution when it was worn by the Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara, perhaps the most famous beret wearer in the world.

I bought mine for photo shots, don't know if I have the courage to wear it in the street.

The Ustaše otherwise known as the Croatian Revolutionary movement were a terrorist group and soon rulers of Croatia. They were lead by Ante Pavelić and his goal was to establish a greater Croatian state under fascist rule. Ante was a clerical fascist so he declared that Catholicism was the true faith of the Croatian people.

It was until 1941 when the Ustaše finally got their wish. They setup a greater Croatian puppet state under the watch of Nazi Germany and fascist Italy after they conquered Yugoslavia. The Ustaše then carried out their genocidal campaign against Serbs, Roma, Jews and political dissidents in their new country. Their goal for the Serbs living in greater Croatia was "Kill 1/3, Convert 1/3 and deport 1/3 (possibly to the much smaller Serbian state run by a collaborator)". The Ustaše were even too brutal for the Nazis themselves and wanted to restrain Pavelić.

The Ustaše would carry out operations against the partisans in Yugoslavia who were lead by Josip Broz Tito (a Croatian himself). As the war worsened for the axis cause the Ustaše were still in control, however by 1945 with the surrender of Nazi Germany, Pavelić ordered his men to flee to Austria which was under the control of the western allies. Doing this would allow them to stay alive because if they surrendered to the partisans they would get killed which is what happened. The British army ordered the Ustaśe and anyone affiliated with them to surrender to the partisans who then began carrying out massacres against them known as the Bleiburg Repatriations.

What became of Pavelić? Pavelić fled to Austria and then went to Argentina (of course). After years of living in Argentina he was shot by a Serbian nationalist in 1957. He had no choice but to flee to Spain where he died two years later.

To avoid confusion. The guys on the left are the Ustase themselves. They were supplied by the Germans and had black uniforms.

Oh as a bonus here's the Ustaše anthem

Here the American Pride Tall Ship, based in Long Beach, and looking a bit "naked" without her red sails unfurled, is sitting moored in the small channel off the main channel near what used to be Ports 'O Call. Next to her is the "Swift of Ipswitch" a replica of a Revolutionary War Privateer once owned by actor James Cagney.

And here we are, my all new Self-Moc, Dmitri. He is a Dutch revolutionary dressed in Russian clothing. He seems to have the ability to cross different planes of existence. He bears many titles and brought back many artifacts from the various worlds he visited.

With Dmitri here I tried to put in a much references to myself and various games and anime I am a fan of. If you’re curious what all I put in there you can find a sheet with all references on my Twitter account.

* this is the first picture from my new series 'Revolutionary Road'. Check all the story in my blog post here.

Today’s story is a story of one break up and an inner desire to mend things that can’t be mended.

Every relationship demands a lot of time investment and energy from both sides. Starting a relationship, it is easy to be overwhelmed by positive emotions and disappearing feeling of loneliness. The more time goes, the more partners become involved in the stories of each other, feelings and world outlook. Sometimes the desires of partners are too diverse, sometimes there are too many third parties involved, sometimes there is disrespect and the constant desire to take, but not to give. I believe each of us can add tons of other reasons when relationships start to remind a burden rather than a happy fairy tale. Millions of books written on the topic, tons of film shot.

Some people are mesmerized by the idea of finding the ideal partner. I was blessed to be not involved in that crappy stuff. There are two most important things for me in a relationship, one being trust, the second being respect. The moment I have lost one of them, the relationship started to look like a glass cube that slides out of a skyscraper (real thing in Australia, check – Eureka Skydeck 88). Precisely said, beautiful and unusual from outside, quite painful and unstable inside.

When it comes to breaking up, it is hard not to start feeling sad. Time spent on building something together, emotions and stories involved, secrets kept… It is hard to admit, but sometimes it is the only way out.

A break up is a small death.

Umspannwerk Favoriten (Substation Favorite), Vienna, Austria.

Architects: Eugen Kastner, Fritz Waage

Built: 1929-1931

The functional building represents "the international influence of the constructive coupling of self-sufficient volumes" and was possibly influenced by Soviet revolutionary architecture. The building, which was built on a triangular plot of land that was rather unfavorable for the purpose, is characterized by a purely technical need, namely the accommodating large transformers, an obligatory design that lines rounded up or interlocks and angular structures, which gives the building a futuristic and technocratic character. Supported by the three-sided floor plan, the association of a large ship's hull is also obvious: Eugen Kastner and Fritz Waage have, for example, designed the chief office as a command bridge projecting beyond the building, as is common on ships. Circular windows are reminiscent of the portholes of an ocean liner.

Today, the Favoriten substation is one of the oldest substations of Wiener Netze GmbH, which is still in operation after the technical equipment was renewed. Because of its special shape, the building has repeatedly been used as a film backdrop.
