reverse macro photography. For everyone who doesn't know what this is, it's basically a technique where you mount your lense reversely onto your camera and go from a basic kit lens to a ultra macro lens. You loose AF capabilities but you get great pictures. It just takes a while to figure everything out.
Auch wenn sich das Rad rückwärts drehen würde, das viele Eis könnte die Balken brechen lassen.Manchmal scheint ein Stillstand notwenig.
Even if the wheel would rotate in reverse, the ice could break the beams. Sometimes a standstill seems necessary.

The famous T. A. Moulton Barn photographed from the backside at sunrise.
Usually, this is shot looking west to enjoy the Grand Teton Backdrop. On this morning it was 4°F (-15C), and there were no other photographers. I decided to try something different with the morning glow

The colors of these early berries on some variety of holly are reversed. It;s usually red berries on green leaves. Though most of the leaves on the bush were still green, the red leaves highlighting the berries caught my eye. Found on the street of roses in Bad Homburg.

Haven't posted a lake photo for a while, and when I do they tend to be from the other side of Tuggerah Lake over at Long Jetty. This is on the Chittaway Bay side looking away from the sunset.
The Tuggerah Lakes Estuary and Catchment Ecological Health Project includes a range of activities around the foreshores of Tuggerah Lakes and within sensitive wetlands and bushland sites fringing the estuary. The project aims to improve the ecological health of Tuggerah Lakes, focusing on storm water improvement, water quality, riparian and wetland ecosystems, bank and foreshore stabilisation, construction and restoration of saltmarsh habitat, wetland management, erosion control and research studies.
I was wondering, if you had to choose one mythological creature to share a house with who would you chose. I would go for a Centaur. Apparently, they love parties and wine so could be some fun nights. And if you were out with them, you could just jump on their backs for a ride home!
see what you are on the inside
look for and find your source
any time is good to do that
but this time is perfect.
Find out who you are!

"what is the use of knowing everything else,
when you don't know yourself?"
but not book knowledge, not school knowledge, -
direct experience, direct knowledge...
follow the I thought to its source...

This Variety/ Convenience store is still a Variety/ Convenience store. On major Toronto arterial roads (College, Queen or Dundas Street) some of these were converted to a restaurant and left untouched on the outside. The street retains this way some of the character. Kind of reverse Potemkin effect. The mural on the side is reflecting the Portuguese community, which moved into this neighborhood in 1950's

Reverse my fall and leave me there
Nurse my soul into care
Turn this all and if it's fair
Then you might as well leave it there
After spotting a few tanks at Winthrop Junction for the Mineral Range, the L540 backs up the north end of the CNW National Mine Branch to return to Euclid Yard in Ishpeming, Michigan where they’ll set out the empty gondolas for Humboldt and continue northwest towards L’Anse with two cars. The old Soo Line-style junction sign and (packed with snow) cantilever signal bridge once governed the confluence of Soo/CNW/LS&I traffic just to the north of this location.
I had a blast running my SPC 2-6-0 over the weekend. This loco has an RC system for the throttle, reverser, and whistle.
I was able to achieve a nice, steady, slow run and was quite happy to get a solid run in for an hour with just a few stops for water to be sure things were good in the boiler.
Another reverse-lens macro. I think the plant is a Grevillea of some description, I picked a flower when I was on one of my walks and brought it home to photograph, flowers in my own garden being in short supply :-)
It's freezing here at the moment and they are forecasting snow, our first touch of winter after a very warm May.
Have a great evening or day everyone :-))

In the nineties, my now-husband and I drove all around Pembroke Maine, searching for Reversing Falls, a tiny town park on the remote coast of Downeast Maine. Just about to give up, a weathered paper plate tacked to a telephone pole, hand-written in faded black magic marker, pointed the way. Enchanted by the tidal falls, we camped there for three days - and never saw another soul. Today it is a 191 acre preserve on Cobscook Bay.
Cobscook is the Passamaquoddy tribal word for “boiling tides." And indeed, the ice cold salt waters appear to simmer then boil as the 24 foot tide rises and falls over a hidden underwater ledge - towards the shore as the tide comes in; reversing direction as the tide falls out.
Everything moves. Eagles fly and dive. Porpoise play, swimming in against the tide then turning to ride out on their backs, flippers in the air. You can almost hear them laugh, all to the rhythm of the ocean.
And if you are there at exactly the right time, there is a brief moment between the incoming and outgoing tide when everything stills. The eagles perch, the boiling stops, the porpoise disappear, and the bay flattens to glass. Magic.

We spent some days in Kyoto, Japan. Timing was perfect for Hanami, or cherry blossom viewing. We took a taxi to the philosopher's path (哲学の道) at dawn, a canal that has plenty of Sakura trees. You can see the reflection of photographers standing on a bridge.
I processed a balanced, a photographic and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

This young pizzaiola takes her break on this doorstep, not far from the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. There's a tourist frenzy rumbling around her, but she's sitting there quietly, living her life. And I see her, all contrasting colours. That's all it takes to create inverted colours.
