- What is Retrofuturs?

Retrofuturs is my stage name, a nickname.

An anchor in space-time, open a window on the present, a way to design a way of feeling things.

- Who is Retrofuturs? And who is behind him?

just me, a PhD student course in semiotics, literary and scientific training. Collisionslife course, beautiful accidents, a strong culture of the word, humor, criticism and ataste for minimalism.

I only did what I liked

- How and when did Retrofuturs start?

The November 11th, 2008.

I collected pictures, I was doing some comics for colleagues blending archive footageand news. The week before I had talked about some features on software.

I looked at what were some with collage, but lacking a sense, pretty but a bit hollow.

I made 4 or 5 images, I've posted on my flickr and liked it very quickly ... A beautifulaccident.

- Your designs are based on "the new technologies". How did they change the real life?

For my part, I would not exist without them this. I am an artist who has developed by using them in by using and criticizing them. Ellles have already changed my life.

They became the substrate or the fertilizer of our lives today, extending the life of anelectronic prosthesis. However, 40 years, I am not a "digital native", I have a culture ofcritical thinking.

I noted in one of my pictures in the series of "the wor (l) has changed": it has gone from "People Have the Power" to "People Have the empowerment.

But I also cut these links to live my life to find me.

- Are your designs a criticism or a representation of the real life?

I am well short of reality. I do insist on some points, I connected, I make digital poetry.

- So... What do you want to tell at the end?

Speaking of this, to build relationships hidden technologies to exorcise, be humorousgraphics to be light by talking about things serious and deep.

- Retrofuturs has work for...

illustrations, books, posters and spoonerisms.

This year, i'm working on big projects with friends.

- Retrofuturs would like to work for...

magazines, websites, posters, activists.

- As a graphic designer you work for costumers. But what is the essence of your work?

I have some commissioned work. I work mostly the concept, language. My work is theresult of how my mind: it combines the things the class and make analogies. Many ofmy images are just daydreams, ramblings. When the idea is there, it is all the work, and it's great.

- Why this name (Retrofuturs)? It has plenty of meaning...

Retrofuturs is my stage name, a nickname. It hides a concept of an ancient structure(in the literature it is called "Figure") that finds its repetition, offset, in today's world.

But especially about the present.

It is a word that I invented or found it fifteen years ago. We had the idea with friendsdoing something around this idea, but it is a project that has not led to many.

I returned to my account.

- Every work is different... But how would you define your work as a whole?

The key words essential to look at my work are the language and life. they pass through my work from side to side, a sort of art therapy ...

- Every artist has an influence...

and went off to accomplish his real goal

- A desire of Retrofuturs...

have my own graphic design studio and live entirely on my art.

- A goal already achieved...

Do what I love, and it works! Retrofuturs changed my life.

- A goal to achieve...

no, I have nothing to prove, just work, to enjoy myself, continue to feel things as I do now.

I work on a very big concept now: "G project". I hope it goes well beyond my expectations.

- Make a list of 3 things Retrufuturs love...

Sex, toys and rock'n roll !

Retrofuturs loves life, digital life and the meaning!

- Give as a phrase for Lamono Magazine!!

Indulge yourself, it works

The Volkswagen New Beetle is a compact car, introduced by Volkswagen in 1997, drawing heavy inspiration from the exterior design of the original Beetle. Unlike the original Beetle, the New Beetle has its engine in the front, driving the front wheels, with luggage storage in the rear.

At the 1994 North American International Auto Show, Volkswagen unveiled the Concept One, a "retro"-themed concept car with a resemblance to the original Volkswagen Beetle. Designed by J Mays and Freeman Thomas at the company's California design studio. the concept car was based on the platform of the Volkswagen Polo. A red cabriolet concept was featured at the Geneva Motor Show, also in 1994.

Strong public reaction to the Concept One convinced the company that it should develop a production version which was launched as the New Beetle in 1997 for the 1998 model-year, based on the Golf IV's larger PQ34 platform. The New Beetle is related to the original only in name and appearance (including the absence of a car emblem script with the exception of the VW logo). For the 1998 model year, only the TDI compression-ignition engine was turbocharged; the spark-ignition engines were only naturally aspirated. In June 1999, Volkswagen introduced the 1.8T, which was the first turbocharged spark-ignition engine offered for the New Beetle. Volkswagen created a web site dedicated specifically to the 1.8T. A convertible was added for the 2003 model-year to replace the Volkswagen Cabrio. However, the New Beetle Convertible was never offered with a compression-ignition engine in North America. The third-generation Beetle Convertible, the successor to the New Beetle Convertible, was offered with the TDI compression-ignition engine in the USA but not in Canada, though, making it possibly the only diesel convertible car offered in North America.

The New Beetle carries many design similarities with the original VW Beetle: separate fenders, vestigial running boards, sloping headlamps, and large round taillights, as well as a high rounded roofline.

I made this for my boyfriend. He has been asking me to make him an original creation just for him for a while now and he was looking over my shoulder at Shannon Ocean's stuff and asked me to build him retro and spacey.

Levin C. Abantius, aka the traveller is able to travel long distances through time and space. Trying to unravel the mysteries of life.

It’s a hard life for him, as he is merely an observer. It’s dangerous to mess with history as the changes to

the future are unpredictable. The older he gets, the more enigmatic he becomes, questions are raised:

why does he have a skull on his walking cane? And what do those 6 notches on it represent?

NO Halloween!!!

En la era prehispánica era común la práctica de conservar los cráneos como trofeos y mostrarlos durante los rituales que simbolizaban la muerte y el renacimiento.

Entonces celebremos el día de nuestros muertos, con esta tremenda fiesta.

The Chrysler PT Cruiser was intended as a replacement for the saloon Neon, sold under the Plymouth and Dodge marques. The PT Cruiser was originally intended as a Plymouth - PT - Plymouth Truck, however the Plymouth marque was to be discontinued, and the PT Cruiser allocated to Chrysler.

Noted for its exterior recalling styling from the 1930s, the PT Cruiser was designed by Bryan Nesbitt. The interior packaging was noted for its high-roof, high h-point seating, and flexible cargo and passenger configurations—a multi-level cargo shelf as well as fold, tumble and removable rear seating.

The PT cruiser arrived on the market at a similar time to other retrofuturistic cars, such as the New Mini, New Beetle, FIAT 500 and Chrysler's own Prowler.

The PT Cruiser is a front-wheel drive 5-passenger vehicle, classified as a truck in the US by the NHTSA for CAFE fuel economy calculations but as a car by most other metrics. Chrysler specifically designed the PT Cruiser to fit the NHTSA criteria for a light truck in order to bring the average fuel efficiency of the company's truck fleet into compliance with CAFE standards.

The PT Cruiser's design was loosely inspired by the Chrysler Pronto Cruizer concept car, which was a car that was styled after the Chrysler and Desoto Airflow, the PT Cruiser's back is slightly similar to the one that was made for the Chrysler CCV which was a retro-styled compact vehicle that was styled after the Citroen 2CV.

By the end of production in July 2010, worldwide production had reached 1.35 million over ten years.

Retrofuturism is a broad definition, that's ever expanding because of free thinking enthusiasts. That being said, retrofuturistic fashion is exploding across multiple genres. And it's fashion takes leather to "new/old world/alternative world" extremes. In point of fact, Steampunk fashion is often wearable art. Be it Steampunk, Renaissance Festival or Cosplay, the classic appeal and distinctive look of leather works. And, it works well.

this image is from the april 21, 1961 issue of Life magazine, which is mostly about yuri gagarin's successful mission in space and what it meant for america. to pick up americans' spirits, Life ran a few illustrations of what our spaceships might look like one day. this is an example of a solar sail.

the caption reads, "like the wind, the sun is a source of power for travel. these huge solar sails made of thin alumunized plastic would be pushed through space by the steady, gentle force of light emanating from the sub. they could be rolled up in a ball for launching into solar orbit, then spread and set adrift with crews manning capsules fastened to each corner. rockets mounted on capsules would guide the sail by twisting and turning it so it could tack like a sailboat in the wind. here artist [robert] mccall shows a spaceship hovering nearby as one crew relieves another and other space-yachts race onward over the moon (left) and earth."

life magazine was still large format back then, so my scanner can't capture all of the image, which takes up two full pages.
