Despite the classic outfit, the Kawasaki Estrella had up-to-date technology. It was started with an electric starter instead of a kick starter, the ignition technology was equipped with transistors and the brakes were designed as disc brakes at both the front and rear.

The Kawasaki Estrella is a retro motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki. It has been built in Japan since 1992 and was marketed in Germany from 1994 to 1999.
The design of the single-seater model of the Kawasaki Estrella is very similar to the Kawasaki model SG 250 from 1964. This motorcycle was based on a 250 cc machine from the motorcycle manufacturer Meguro, which was taken over by Kawasaki and, among other things, built copies of British BSA machines.

SP-LIM was delivered to LOT in May 2010.
To celebrate LOT's 90th anniversary, SP-LIM was painted into this special retro livery in December 2018, depicting the carriers colours of the 50's to mid 60's.
There is also some old advertisement posters of LOT from the 1960's inside the cabin.

This classic pedal bike was on the sidewalk in front of a shop on Abbot Kinney Blvd. Venice Beach Ca. By the looks of that chain the bike is probably a store prop but you never know, a lot of funky stuff happens in this trendy area. You have to love those handlebars and how they are ogling the boots, seems that way to me and Sir Cam as well...grin!

I've had this frame a long time, and it's seen its fair share of different parts. My design, with solid input from the builder, it has never failed to be a simply fantastic ride.
Some of the parts on it are, remarkably, even older than the frame. And still work perfectly. Others, such as the seatpost, are relatively new. This series was done at the suggestion of some riding buddies who pre-date the bike. It was fun, sort of like making portraits of someone you watched grow up.

The Kawasaki W brand were retro styled motorcycles, beginning with the Zephyr range inspired by the Z series inline-fours from the 1970s. By the late 1990s successors to the Zephyrs were based on even older generations of motorcycles with twin-cylinder engines, the V-twin engined Drifter and the vertical-twin W650. Unlike the 1960s W series, the 1999–2007 W650 had an up-to-date engine design while holding on to the vintage British motorcycle look. The 2011–2013 W800 carries on with the W brand, and expands the range to include Café racer models
The Kawasaki W800 is a parallel twin motorcycle manufactured and marketed by Kawasaki from 2011 to 2016, and then since 2019. The W800 is a retro style model that emulates the Kawasaki W series, three models that were produced from 1967 to 1975, and which in turn were based on the British BSA A7 The W800 has an air-cooled, 773 cc (47 cu in) 360° parallel-twin, fuel injected, four-stroke engine, with shaft and bevel gear driven overhead cam. The retro style includes a highly polished, gloss-painted and pinstriped fuel tank, as well as a ribbed saddle, wire wheels and a special W-logo on both sides of the tank, which refers to the W1-model

These old Treks were some of the first mass produced gravel type bikes. I mean there were others but none were so readily available. Of course back then gravel bikes weren't a genre so these were sold as hybrids with flat bars.
It turns out, as long as you don't require disc brakes (and trust me, marketing is a powerful thing but a set of V-brakes with salmon Koolstops are going to stop your bike at least as well as most mechanical disc) these are idea mixed surface touring bikes/gravel bikes.
The higher end models like the 7900 came with premium level MTB components. Deore, LX, XT depending on year and a 700c MTB rim with MTB hubs and spacing. Rack mounts, fender mounts. Drop bar conversion on a 6/7/8/9 speed just meant a pull adapter for the front derailleur or even easier a bar end friction shifter (I've done both on the two I own).
The gearing on this is far superior to any modern 1x or even 2x drive train. It's a little less than the 670% of my 7900 but still around 600% with nice tight spacing, a true high gear and a very good low gear (24x34).
As seen the bike is outfitted with a Soma Rakku 2 rear rack with Topeak Versa Cages and dry bags (this wasn't an aethetic choice, we didn't finish the second set of panniers), an aliexpress Pizza Rack knock off on front, homemade (home modified) military sustainment pouch micro panniers. I added a downtube bottle mount for extra capacity. The rear derailleur is a takeoff from a newer (90s model) bike. It's XT 8spd vs Deore 7spd. It's running a 9spd cassette. We used microshift R9 brake shift levers, but ended up going with a Sunrace 3x front friction shifter instead of a pull adapter on the front brake shifter. While my preference is cantilever vs v-brakes, I opted for the lower maintenance, higher max stopping power of the XT V-brakes we had from a takeoff mountain bike in the parts bin.
Overall, this is very solid frame up build using a mix of original parts and some parts bin or selected new parts where necessary. Every bearing and part was stripped and cleaned. This is essentially a new bike!

The Triumph TR5 Trophy, a classic British motorcycle with elegant lines and unmistakable character, looks right at home among the vintage transport at Shuttleworth. Introduced in the late 1940s and powered by a 498cc parallel twin engine, it earned fame as a competition machine and for its Hollywood connection—famously ridden by Steve McQueen. A fitting presence in Shuttleworth’s celebration of historic engineering and design.

This is a creation of needs. My cyclocross bike got written off in a crash and I had this Bonrager frame sitting idle with little use. The CX bike got stripped and the components transfered to this frame. It is a bit of a bastard creation with 700c wheels on a frame designed to take a 26' wheel.
I bought some Salsa Woodchipper bars and Moto Ace stem to achive a more commanding riding position for extended trips. This bike is supposed to be a stop gap until I buy a new CX machine... but i'm growing quite fond of it.
The rear rack is a Topeak item.
