A private commission.

An interpretation of an illustration by the artist Shag (Josh Agle) of The Velvet Underground.

A considerable challenge but the pay off, I think, is marvellous.

Made in FIMO.

It really turns out that you can't print on felt with a needle printer, but you can write on it with a typewriter 😀 *

* The text:

THE FELT IS EMERGING

A philosophical essay.

"In the realm of creative expression, felt emerges—an enigma defying the printed word, yet surrendering to the typewriter's touch. Its essence bewitches, as thoughts cascade like ink, seeking profound significance within human existence.

This fabric resists fixed meanings, mocking text's linearity. A rebellion against homogeneity, it challenges established truths, urging the transcendence of boundaries. Each typewriter keystroke on felt shapes meaning beyond replication—a testament to our creative spirit.

In this encounter, the will to power unfolds—a ceaseless striving for self-affirmation, where the typewriter becomes a conduit. Co-creators, we defy conventions, redefining boundaries, and defying stagnant thought."

My guardian angel has certainly had enough to be completely exhausted over the last few days and weeks. The image (print on handmade paper) was designed by Dall-E 2 and the haiku written by ChatGPT 4 ; on my part, the work consisted of an idea, communicating with the AI, finding the right proportions, etc. And of course my own idea and selection of suitable variants. Tools: Nine-needle printer, electronic typewriter, blue carbon paper, nice handmade paper, and fixative.

My heart and mind were lost before I met you “Alida said”

Her heart was like a forest have caught fire

And her spirit was like a city that was destroyed by a war that has been raging between two opponents (her mind and her soul)

While she looks at him and doesn’t care about what happens in her mind

why you made me wait for you all this time grace?!

Did I have to wait a lot to find my world “you”?

His touch was like a chills

But It wasn't chills of fear.

It was a chills of safe and love

In a stark ballet of form and void, this monochrome masterpiece channels the bold spirit of Bauhaus and the rigid intellect of Constructivism. A solitary black circle looms like a silent eclipse over a fractured grid, where rectangles and lines war and waltz in calculated precision. The absence of color becomes its own symphony, drawing the eye deeper into the architecture of thought itself. Cold, rational, and yet hauntingly poetic — this piece is a blueprint of emotion held together by steel logic.

"Chromatic Bloom" erupts like a radiant mandala of form and pigment—each arc, quadrant, and intersection pulsing with vibrant clarity. With the sharp precision of geometric abstraction and the immersive emotion of color field painting, this piece is a riot of harmony and contrast. It’s a celebration of symmetry and saturation, where mathematics meets melody in a kaleidoscope of bold expression.

Image was designed by Dall-E 2 and the poem was written by ChatGPT; on my part, the work consisted of communicating with the AI, finding the right proportions, etc. And of course my own idea and selection of suitable variants. The whole process was actually similar to collaging in terms of communicating with the material, semi-intentional, semi-random. Tools: Nine-needle printer, carbon paper, electric typewriter, art paper, and varnish. Size: 15×20 cm, April 2023.
