Took it for a spin on The Embarcadero in SF today.
Although my own interest is focused on version 2 (sometime later this year), this did generate some comments.
A skateboarder slowed passage to tell me "Cool Bike" twice;
A beautiful young woman (on a bicycle herself) asked multiple "how, what, why?" questions and said it was very cool;
and a gentleman in a truck rolled his window down (while pacing me) and asked numerous questions about the construction of the bike itself! No doubt it catches some peoples interest!
Except for fast sharp turns, I have loved the way the bike rides and handles, but I learned a new trick today in traffic which makes me love it a little more..
Having come to a rapid stop caused by cars/traffic, I found myself stopped without having first shifted into a lower gear.
I shifted my weight forward with brakes applied, and then threw my weight backward and released the brakes. I was able to coast backwards several feet, which allowed me room to shift into a lower gear for restart. (I try to "rabit start" and accelerate as close to the traffics speed as possible).
Easily moving backwards was a new experience - try that on a "normal" bike!!! :)
