This one-storey brick building was built in 1875. It has a hip roof with gable over the front porch which has been added at a later date. The upright supports are situated in two groups of three pillars. The window surrounds and sills are plain and wooden. It is an example of a 19th century simple brick structure with

interesting eaves-bracket detail.

The Cokes hartebeest is a large, fawn-colored antelope. It is one of the fastest antelopes and most enduring runners. These qualities gave rise to its name, which means “tough ox.” Its sedentary lifestyle seems to inhibit the mixing of populations and gene flow; as a result, there are several subspecies of hartebeest.

Hartebeest are mainly found in medium and tall grasslands, including savannas. Adult females are often accompanied by up to four generations of their young. Female offspring remain close to their mothers up to the time they give birth to calves of their own. Even male offspring may remain with their mothers for as long as 3 years, an unusually long bonding period. As groups of females move in and out of male territories, the males sometimes chase away the older offspring. Their mothers become defensive and protect them from the males.

Although bachelor herds of young males are also formed, they are less structured than those of some antelopes, and age classes are not as conspicuous.

The hartebeest feeds almost entirely on grass but it is not very selective and quite tolerant of poor-quality food. Although a prolific breeder and even a dominant species in some areas, the hartebeest has probably suffered the greatest reduction in range of all African ruminants. This is both because it is easily hunted (being relatively sedentary), and because its diet is almost equivalent to that of cattle—it must compete for food resources. Wikipedia

The Black Jacobin is a striking black and white endemic of woodland habitats from eastern Brazil south to northeast Argentina in a fairly narrow band along the coast. It feeds on the nectar of various native and introduced shrubs and trees and will occasionally occur in congregations of 50 or more individuals around particularly rich nectar resources and when it happens they become very aggressive in the dispute for nectar. Location: Drone Haven

Backstory: Drone Haven, a city long abandoned by humanity, stands as a haunting testament to the fleeting importance of humankind in the grand narrative of nature. Rusted skyscrapers rise from fractured earth, their decayed frames wrapped in vines and moss, bearing witness to nature’s quiet reclamation. Faded posters and graffiti whisper a warning from a forgotten era: “The End is Near!” On the city’s outskirts, a survivalist camp briefly clung to life. Dreamers and pragmatists built it as humanity’s final stand, cultivating gardens and creating shelters in defiance of the inevitable. Yet disease, dwindling resources, and discord proved stronger than their resolve. The camp fell silent, overtaken by creeping greenery, its remnants a poignant symbol of resilience overshadowed by decline. At the city’s heart lies the ruins of a once-famous butcher shop, its walls weathered and its windows shattered. Moss softens its rusted fixtures, and vines snake through every crevice. Outside, the grim message echoes: “The End is Near!” This decaying relic serves as a stark reminder of human hubris and the fragile nature of survival. Amid the ruins, drones roam like spectral caretakers. Left by their creators, these machines continue to perform their programmed duties, planting native flora during their annual Echocycle rituals. They maintain Drone Haven as a paradox—a city simultaneously embodying human ambition and nature’s enduring dominance. Yet even the drones are not eternal. As creations of humankind, they too are bound by the finite nature of energy. Like their creators, they will eventually exhaust their resources and cease to function. This juxtaposition—humanity’s ephemeral existence and its legacy in the mechanical species it forged—underscores the fragility of all things, natural or artificial. Drone Haven whispers a layered tale: a reminder that humanity, for all its self-importance, is but a fleeting presence in the face of nature’s vast, enduring cycles. In its rusted beams and flowering vines, it reflects on collapse, resilience, and the inescapable truth that all energy is finite and ultimately consumed.

Shenzhen is one of the cities in Mainland China that is often unofficially referred to a Tier 1 city, along with other cities such as Guangzhou, Shanghai & Beijing.

With a very young history, it is no surprise that the skyline of Shenzhen often keeps changing with new skyscrapers, such as the China Resources Headquarters building here (often nicknamed as the "Spring Bamboo").

Greece boasts lignite resources of 4.7 billion tonnes and 3.0 billion tonnes of economically workable reserves. The most important deposits are located in the north of the country at Ptolemais - Amynteon and Florina (1.5 billion tonnes) which contribute around 80 % of production. Other deposits lie at Drama (900 million tonnes) and at Elassona (170 million tonnes), as well as in the south at Megalopolis (225 million tonnes). There is also a large peat deposit of about 4 billion cubic metres at Philippi in the northern part of Greece (Eastern Macedonia). Only 30 % of the total lignite reserves have been extracted to date and remaining reserves are good for over 40 years at current production rates

Good morning, everyone.

First of all, you need to know who we are: a couple of environmental researchers and analysts.

We therefore draw on the Earth's natural resources to design our experiments and provide them with "diagnostics".

We are developing our research on the dynamics of natural fluids and their potential for action; Experience this on our YouTube channel (A.V.P.9 -Auxiliary of Shared Vision-) :

www.youtube.com/channel/UCF4t8IwDbaiJ1zBUnv3e4DQ

Today we are creating this piggy bank to have access to the equipment we need for the proper functioning and concrete realization of our projects.

This equipment is expensive and unfortunately does not plan to reduce its price, which slows us down; compared to the importance of a quality camera associated with a lens that best suits our work. We need this precision and sharpness to share our discoveries/explorations with you effectively.

To immerse yourself in our world, we warmly invite you to visit our YouTube channel and our photo gallery.

Whether it's a donation of your opinions on our drafts, or a donation that will be put into our piggy bank: they will be most rewarding!

We thank you in advance for your approval of our project developments.

Thus, it is in the face of your generosity that we will one day be able to open our doors to you: Your immersion in our world.

The Iceland Meteorological Office provides incredible resources to assist with viewing of the northern lights: en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/aurora/

Our drive to Egilsstaðir was notable for clear skies in the afternoon and evening. After checking into our hotel and eating dinner, we turned around and headed into the hills above Egilsstaðir. We caught our first glimpse of the Northern Lights (a dim green band across the entire northern sky), but were worried about light pollution from the city below. Thus we headed further into the mountains on an icy, winding and windy road.

We soon spotted an orange glow. As we drove on, we realized that a ski resort, with its runs being groomed at 2230, was creating even more light than the city had. So we kept going.

Finally, we saw the full glory of the Northern Lights dancing to our left. We found a suitable place to pull over (before reaching the town of Seyðisfjörður, which is the source of the glow on the right side of this photo).

The Northern Lights shone brightly for about 20 minutes before dimming to pale green again - long enough for us to take many images, including this one. There was a lovely twin waterfall (Gufufoss) behind us (which provided the soundtrack for our photo shoot), but the lights did not extend far enough west to include them in any images. This was our one and only sighting of the Northern Lights on this trip.

...when livelihoods that feeds Humanity and protects the natural resources on Earth...were glorified as to inherit the Earth as caregivers of Humanity...

This fence definitely was a use of the available resources, and very little cash was expended in its construction. I actually see this quite often, but usually not next to a main road....HFF everyone!

Riqueza solo de ida.

Hubo un tiempo en que las tierras del Marquesado del Zenete (Granada) proporcionaban la riqueza de sus entrañas a la industria y a las ciudades. No recibieron mucho a cambio.

Once upon a time the lands of the Marquesado del Zenete (Granada, Spain) provided the wealth of its entrails in industry and cities. They did not receive much in return. The entire region, from churches to schools, is still covered in reddish dust from iron ore, but there were no major public investments in the area, except for the railway. This now abandoned electrified branch, the Ferrocarril Minero del Marquesado, linked the Alquife mines with Huéneja station, belonging the Linares-Almería railway line.

Today the same area, still depressed, is full of wind and photovoltaic power plants, and again provides wealth for industry and remote cities, this time in the form of electricity. And once again, all this economic activity doesn't seem to be accompanied by public investments that bring back the improvement of opportunities for its population..

Some of the AWESOME resources that the NSWRFS have to fight the bushfire season...

This weed (Ctenium aromaticum, toothachegrass) has become one of my favorite subjects to shoot and my apologies as I seem to be pretty much addicted to it.

Factoid from USDA/NRCS: The stem, when erect, has an enlarged base and contains a substance that deadens the tongue and gums when chewed. Hey, now this might be fun to try! :)

Thanks to USDA/NRCS (Percy Magee, USDA NRCS National Plant Data Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana) online resources for the identification and additional information!

Sharing the resources and estate. I see quite a few Glossy Ibis in the spring, but this is my first time seeing juvenile late in the summer. I spent about an hour last week photographing a trio of the young birds at Hammonasset SP. Glossies came from Africa to the Caribbean in the 19th century, and populations have steadily expanded to include New England. Thanks to all, I always appreciate those who take the time to view and make thoughtful comments.
