I usually make a new year's resolution and quickly forget it within the first few weeks. I suck at resolutions. So, this year I'm not doing that. Instead, I'm going to make a list of things that I want or need and work on getting those things.
You see, usually when I have extra money on payday I end up blowing it on doll stuff... or food... or just things I don't need in general. So, I made a big list of things that I eventually want to get, some of them I need to get. This way, on payday, when there's extra money it will have a destination and I won't just blow it on whatever. A nice side effect to this will be more control over my spending, but I won't be calling that a resolution... otherwise this just won't last. It's just how my brain works.
So, at the top of my list is a face for Lill and a wig, because I'm already committed to buying those. Next is contact lenses and glasses, because I need them. And then a vacuum. Cuz I don't have one... my carpet is looking yucky.
Other stuff on the list are things like a new bed for Claire, cuz she is still in a toddler bed and will be outgrowing it in the next few years, a new bed for me, a dollhouse, a sewing desk, patterns for girls clothes, fabric, clothes, shoes, a new battery for my compy... lots of things. As you can see I plan to focus more on me and Claire with my spending this year than my dollies. I think they've got enough stuff. Thank goodness they'll never grow out of it! lol
I was explaining to a friend at work my plans for this year and realized that this all sounds really shallow of me. Focusing more on buying/getting stuff than on self improvements and whatnot. But I don't care! It's about time I got some things I really need and want. And like I said, there's that nifty side effect of getting my spending under control.
I downloaded Evernote to help me with this yearlong project. I have the Evernote app on my phone, computer, and kindle. I can keep track of my list of needs/wants (which go in order from Most Needed at the top to Most Wanted towards the bottom) and check things off as I go. Evernote syncs itself after each change to a note so my list is up to date on all my devices. It's pretty awesome.
Wish me luck with my anti-resolution! I think I'm going to do well with this idea. :D
I made a New Year resolution to make at least one new dish each month. This is the first. Meatloaf made with ground pork and with cheese in the middle.

Jamaica has the most churches per square mile. Among green vegetation and beautiful sky formed as backdrop are these lovely buildings. The Carron Hall United Church, St. Mary, St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Highgate and St. Mary parish Church, Port Maria. These sturdy monuments exhibit strength and beauty that stood the test of time.

In 2008 I set upon the epic journey of Stephen King's Dark Tower. The experience was incredible and challenged my way of thinking in the way only one other writer has before (Grant Morrison). I finished the final part in November 08 and in December, Christmas caused me to ignore the growing pile of books. I quickly fell out of the habit of reading and in 09 read very little so much so that I barely made it through 1 book every other month.
My second resolution this year is to read a book a month, minimum.

At 1200 ppi, we were finally able to read the year "22" on the license plate. Of course that high of resolution creates a hugh image file, but it is worth it for important, detail-rich images.
Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Foundation's Arts and Media Officer, Alicia Glasgow (right) presents a gift certificate to Johnette McFarlance-Lewis, Teacher at Paul Bogle High School in St. Thomas. Joining them is JN Foundation’s Project Officer Anna-Kim Robinson (left). They were at the launch of Resolution Project 2011/2012 at the Spanish Town Methodist Church in St. Catherine on Thursday, November 3. Mrs. McFarlane-Lewis' student, Navisha Madden earned first place in the individual photo category of the Resolution Project 2010/2011 advocacy through photography competition.
Mostly my resolution for this upcoming year is to grow as a photographer. This year I got so many new opportunities with my photography, from shooting Seaside's ST. Patrick's Day Parade, to shooting a wedding, and just being able to travel and take pictures, which is what I love to do. I hope this year brings more opportunities, and I hope I sharpen my skills as a photographer. Recently I got a new camera - an Argus Autronic I. It still works, and a small resolution of mine is to start using it and begin playing around with film photography. I am hoping film can open a new way of thinking creatively for me.
This is my first Mission and when I saw the topic my first thought was "uh oh!" I don't make formal resolutions. Then I started thinking about the laundry list of things I wanted to accomplish this year. I thought about the things I wanted to do and then decided first I needed to change clothes. Then I thought perhaps a collection of things representing what I wanted to do, but got sidetracked by the President's farewell speech. Thinking about how I'd like to arrange them I decided I was hungry and stopped to eat. Then I realized that my biggest deterrent to accomplishing my goals is time management. Something always pulls me away from the task at hand. So my true resolution should, and will be, to manage my time more effectively so that I can accomplish all the other things I want to do.

You may not believe it but my little scared of road runner because itr is too violent crawled into bed with us at 3:00am the other day and my wife woke up with this. Every one remembers her doing it. It was in her sleep. It is still funny.
