Detail of Resolutions - Butter Lemon fabric by Glimmericks on Spoonflower

It turned out to be great weather for today's Resolution 10k up at the racecourse after it got cancelled 2 weeks ago, nice to see so many familiar faces and well done to everyone taking part , did I mention I got a PB ..

Thanks to Kristy for taking most of the photos in the cold ..

My resolution for this year would be to be better than last year. Better shots, better composition, better light, better focus. Practice more, slack off less. These are roughly the last 36 "keeper" images I took, I want my next 36 to blow these away.

Created with fd's Flickr Toys for the moodymonday.org photo challenge "Better". Update: Which I am happy to say it won.

First of my resolutions is to get the kids to walk up Snowdon. So now we're in training at the moment and on our way down from the summit of Garnfadryn, and the kids didn't moan that much either.

Just started Don DeLillo's Falling Man.

"It was not a street anymore but a world, a time and space of falling ash and near night." Sentence-to-sentence, one of the best writers in America.

Culture Jam by Kalle Lasn

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver

Telling a story of the years it has stood here, the Greenvale railway station is a landmark in Jamaican history. The two storey building although now occupied stands strong in its dilapidated state, rotting roofing, rusty metal work-there were even signs that scrap metal was removed from the structure. The peeling paint, missing pieces of wood all echo the silent screams of the station waiting to be renewed.

This is the first year I have ever made any resolutions and I have made plenty :) One being to take LOTS of photos of my kids with my camera rather than just quickly grabbing my phone (and then wishing I had gotten those photos in better quality) Yes, I am a photographer and many of my photos of my kids are just with my Blackberry, I hope I'm not the only one guilty of this!

An overnight mooring in Resolution Bay. This shot was taken just before sunrise with the eastern sky filling the world with soft golden light.

Christmas is over, and I hope you all had a good one—or at least a peaceful one, if things are a bit difficult for you right now.

The New Year is just around the corner. Time for resolutions again, and for looking back at what actually became of last year's goals.

Photography-wise, it’s been a pretty good year for me. I think a few of my shots will stick around. But more importantly, I’ve finally started turning my photos into something finished: a book, or at least a zine, a print on the wall, an exhibition—anything tangible. The main thing is that it’s presentable and, above all, not just digital and fleeting.

That’s exactly what I want to focus on in the coming year: moving forward with selecting series and sequences, which is something I still find quite difficult. To be honest, I already have two very specific ideas floating around in my head, but both are massive undertakings and I’m not yet sure how long they’ll take or what the final result will be.

Related to that, I’ve started looking at other people's work more often. Maybe next year I’ll make it to a museum or a gallery more frequently, or manage to get my hands on more photo books. I treated myself to Masahisa Fukase’s “Ravens” for Christmas—a start. It’s not exactly uplifting, but for me, it’s very enlightening right now.

So, building on this past year, I have a clear path for the next. What more could you want? Now I just need the time and energy to actually do the work... the hardest part, as with all resolutions.

first photo of me on here.

and im hiding behind a camera for a reason!

there's a bit of a fracture on this, im not sure whether it was me, or whether it occured on development (currently Boots handles all my photos because i don't have access to a dark room yet)

For New Year I resolved to read 24 books this year. These are 24 books that are currently sitting on my shelf waiting to be read (and the 2 I have read so far in January).
