Looking east along busy Yan'an Road (延安路) at the intersection with Huashan Road (华山路).

The blue illuminated part is Yan'an Viaduct Road (延安高架路). Taken from the footbridge at that intersection. Here Yan'an Road also changes it's designation from West Yan'an Road (延安西路) to Middle Yan'an Road (延安中路).

Combined from 3 exposures, each 15 seconds long.

A closer view towards the altar of the late renaissance Michaelskirche in Munich.

St, Michael was built from 1583 to 1597. It was massively damaged during an allied bomb raid in 1944 and reconstructed from 1946 to 1948.

As seen from the western Isar bank. The weir was completed in 1924. It's purpose is to raise the water level of the Isar river by 6 m and divert most of the water into the Mittlere-Isar-Kanal, which on it's lenght of 64 km supplies in total 7 run-of-the-river power stations with water.

This is the upstream side - downstream of the weir is a popular bathing place.

The current Fischertor city gate was built in 1924, after demolishing the remains of a gate in this place dating to 1609.

The 1609 gate was actually a modification of a 1328 gate. The 1609 gate was nearly completely destroyed in 1703 during the War of the Spanish Succession, slowly rebuilt, but closed in 1770 due to lack of traffic.

As you can see from my middle-of-the-road point of view, there is still not too much traffic in 2022... 😁

"Normal" version. Stand by for even more... 😁

Actually the lens some people call the "nifty fifty" never had too much appeal to me, it proved always either "too long" or "too short".

Carried it just to fill the gap between the 18-35 and the 80-200, in that case a good choice...

The Regattastrecke Oberschleißheim (Oberschleißheim Regatta Course) is an artificial lake that was build for the 1972 Olympic Games as the rowing and canoe sprint venue.

The lake is 2,230 metres long and 140 metres wide. Since 2018 it is under Denkmalschutz (scheduled monument, historic landmark).

It is still used as training facility for local rowing clubs and for related sports events, e.g the World Rowing Cup 1997 and the 2007 World Rowing Championships.

The Magdalenenklause is a hermitage, designed as an artificial ruin, located in the Nymphenburg Palace Park.

The purpose of the building was to serve as a memento mori for the Elector (Kurfürst) Max Emanuel - he was supposed to visit the building and contemplate the transience of being alive and a ruler.

Unfortunately Max Emanuel did not live long enough to see the building completed - sic transit gloria...

Revisited. The subway station "Westfriedhof" (Western Cemetery) on the border between the districts of Moosach and Neuhausen-Nymphenburg, along lines U1/U7.

Pretty popular photo location for obvious reasons...

The blue walls (remainders of the slurry wall that was used during construction) and the 11 huge lamps of 3.80 m diameter each give a very special atmosphere. The lamps do have yellow, red and blue lights, so each section has a slightly different atmosphere.

Before sunset in the park of New Schleißheim Palace.

Unfortunately the park closes long before sunset.

The New Schleißheim Palace was built 1701-1704 by Enrico Zuccalli for the Elector of Bavaria, Maximilian II Emanuel, who expected to become emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and therefore felt the need for a representative new residence.

Bad luck: Maximilian II Emanuel never became the emperor...

The cathedral of Freising was built in Romanesque style from 1159 to 1205. The steeples are 56 m tall and one of the landmarks of Freising.

The interior was reworked several times until the final Rococo style it has today was reached around 1724.

From the side. The Walhalla memorial is a hall of fame that honours distinguished people "of the German tongue".

The idea for such a memorial is from (at that time) Crown Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria in 1807. The building in neoclassicistic style, modeled after the Parthenon in Athens, was finally begun in 1830 and completed in 1842.
