These are Mr and Mrs Brownheaded Cowbirds....This is one species where l think the female is more attractive than the male.

This was the view from my hotel room. I called to make my reservation and I asked for an ocean view and the girl was so rude. She said, Well, you'll have to be on the second floor. I thought of a couple of things to say but I just, OK. There wasn't an elevator but we still
managed. Also, in this shot, you can see the bad weather I was telling you about.

One of the many amazing rock formations at the Monument Valley. For a sense of scale, the dots on the long windy line are vehicles.
Neither I or this blackbird was phased by the rain. She just kept flying from place to place here at North Chagrin Reservation.

10 stop ND for the LE effect on the water already warmed the colors. I also used NIK filter, pumped up the saturation and increased the temperature.

I was planning on going to Clague Park this morning to try and capture my nemesis the Belted Kingfisher, but instead went to the Rocky River Reservation Metro Park. Naturally, I found out later from another photographer that the Kingfisher was at Clague and giving some really good looks. Meanwhile, I had to settle for this Red-bellied Woodpecker who at least posed in a spot with a nice background and turned to face the early morning sunlight.
Monument Valley is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft above the valley floor. The most famous butte formations are located in northeastern Arizona along the Utah–Arizona state line. The valley is considered sacred by the Navajo Nation, the Native American people within whose reservation it lies.
Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Director John Ford used the location for a number of his Westerns; critic Keith Phipps wrote that "its five square miles have defined what decades of moviegoers think of when they imagine the American West".
CSX runs their L317 local from Parma down the hill to Clark Ave yard late in the morning, switches customers in the valley, and comes back up the hill a few hours later. This is the downhill train (westbound on the RR but geographically east). They typically use a mother/slug set of 4 axle standard cabs. For several miles the tracks follow the Big Creek valley to get down the hill. In this short section the Metroparks have done some landscaping to stabilize the banks along their Brookside Reservation.
