Replacement of the seismically unsafe eastern span of the Bay Bridge. Construction progress as of January 2007.
The new "bridge" will actually consist of two separate parallel structures, one for each direction, which will merge into the existing tunnel at Yerba Buena Island. The complete bridge will include pedestrian and bike lanes. Studies are under way for adding a pedestrian/bike capability to the western span, which is not being replaced; most likely those will be suspended from one side of the existing bridge. PERSONAL FUN FACT: I admit that I don't care for the vast majority of the live action Disney remake movies. Therefore, I wasn't too fussed about seeing "The Little Mermaid" when I heard news about its release. That being said, I did hear rumors, years before it was in theaters, that Ariel was going to be black. Immediately, I envisioned how gorgeous a doll version of this new Ariel would be. Fast forward to 2023, when the dolls were out in stores, I was NOT disappointed. Boy oh boy is this Ariel GORGEOUS!!! Her head mold is breathtaking, and resembles the actress's face flawlessly. She has interesting hair too--crimped underneath with micro braids on top (which feel like a more textured hair fiber than silky braids used on Caucasian dolls). Every time I saw the live action "The Little Mermaid" dolls in stores, I ogled them. I had a feeling I would find one secondhand sooner than later, so I resisted the temptation. I was VERY surprised, however, that one turned up so soon. It was the day after Christmas in 2023. Colleen had a 20% off Saver's coupon leftover (that a friend gave her after making donations). It was set to expire on the 31st. Since Colleen was off of work for the week, it was an opportune time to go thrifting. I also figured, what with the holidays, parents would be more likely to donate their kids' old toys, to make room for the new ones. My hunch was correct...never have I EVER seen such an overloaded toy section at this Saver's. The dolls were sadly quite overpriced. Some were $5, hardly having retailed for more than that originally. I picked out two other dolls, who were a little older than the rest and wearing their original ensembles. I had noted a mermaid doll hanging by herself, with random toys not the other dolls. Before we were about to leave, Colleen pointed out the doll again. She recognized her as live action Ariel, but expressed it was a bummer her fins were missing. I, on the other hand, did not see this broken tail as an imposition at all. In the past, I've fabricated my own replacement fins and it has worked out decently. She was $3, which I found acceptable. I felt so bad for poor Ariel, being so new and already broken...then promptly discarded at the thrift store like she was trash. After a thorough bath and pampering session, I used leftover cuttings from fleece (that I used for my chinchillas' cage) to fashion her new fins. The gradient of purple, blue, and pink is almost an exact match to Ariel's remaining tail! I stuffed it with the unusable scraps of fleece, leftover from cutting my pattern (I didn't have any actual stuffing left, but the trimmings would do). I hot glued the new fins into place, restoring Ariel to her former glory. This doll is SUCH a goddess...it would have been such a tragedy for her to linger at the thrift store all because of her missing fins. She's one of my personal favorite Ariel dolls in my whole collection (and she makes me want more of the live action dolls).

Today, when I left work and went to get into my car, I quickly realized that the keys I need to unlock the door were sitting on my car seat, locked inside my car. I had plans after work and was so worried that I would have to cancel. I had never locked my keys in my car before, so I called this amazing locksmith near me. I explained my situation and they were at my car in minutes! I still cannot believe how fast they came to rescue me. The locksmith was incredibly kind and once he had my door unlocked, even waited until my car was started and I was on my way to get back into his truck. This locksmith is truly the best you will find!

Seeing The Replacements after 20 something years was glorious. The last time I saw them was on next to last show in Omaha before they called quits the next night after playing the Taste of Chicago. They are probably one of my all time favorite bands along with fellow Minnapolins Hüsker Dü. It was a brilliant set of material from most of their albums and they rocked it like a mack truck. If thats the last time I ever seeing it will be alright with me. Long live the Mats!

No. 82 was one of 38 final tram replacement trolleybuses purchased by Wellington City Transport. With their Leyland-designed chassis assembled by Scammell at Watford, they were the last trolleybuses built by British United Traction (BUT). 19 of them (No's. 82-100) received bodies built by Metro-Cammell-Weymann (MCCW) of Birmingham. No. 82 was tested on the Walsall trolleybus system on the 25th November 1963 and the batch of trolleybuses were shipped to New Zealand from Liverpool.
No. 82 entered service on the 13th March 1964 with the registration number P476.
In 1966, as part of a country-wide rationalisation, No. 82 received a new registration number EV 6757.
No. 82 was always one-man-operated and ran over the city's extensive trolleybus network with winding roads, steep hills and the city's five tunnels. A feature on Wellington's trolleybuses and that No. 82 EV 6757 being no exception, are the provision of ''open - lockers'' for the carriage of 'prams' or 'pushchairs'.
No. 82 was withdrawn in 1986 when new Volvo trolleybuses entered service. The trolleybus was then loaned to the late Ian Little's Trolleybus Museum at Foxton, a town in the Manawatu-Wanganui region of New Zealand. In 1999 No. 82 passed into the care of the Omnibus Society of New Zealand Inc. (OSNZ) and then moved into storage at the Wellington Tramway Museum; ownership passing over to the OSNZ some years later.
Following, intermittent discussions with the Omnibus Society of New Zealand. Over a period of time, and donations from Trolleybus Museum members, No. 82 was sold to The Trolleybus Museum for just NZ$10. The trolleybus left Wellington, New Zealand for the United Kingdom on the 20th October 2012, arriving at the Port of Felixstowe, Suffolk on the 18th December 2012.

Replacing the tail light on my 2012 Mazda 3. For someone with no demonstrable mechanical skills, it was a modest achievement... particularly since the replacement part didn't come with instructions. Finding my way into the backside of the trunk was quite an adventure (and I cracked one of the plastic tacks before figuring out how they worked).
