This is a scan of a polaroid photo of me taken at Tay Ninh Base Camp in Vietnam.. From my perspective, the Vietnam war was based upon a lack of understanding of history and culture of other peoples, nationalism and nations (read lies). My sadness is that I never thought my country would ever again repeat such madness...and now it's so much worse...Photo taken by a friend from Company B, 2nd Batallion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Air Cavalry Division.

Sometimes, history doesn't just repeat itself. In fact, it rhymes.
This Wednesday gone marked a trip down the country via the West Midlands to go visit the relatives down at Bridgnorth. If you remember the last time I did that, well... times and circumstances were very different. Along the way, though, I managed to snap a couple of National Express buses as we drove through Brownhills... and this time around, as the year draws to a close, it happened again!
This time around, though, its a type rather unfamiliar to the majority-ADL NXWM operation. In January 2016, a single StreetDeck in the company's 'crimson' livery was delivered, followed later in June by four others. So... why did they buy them? Checking CLondon92's ever-helpful blog archive, nothing's very clear from the Wrightbus press release. Clearly, the diesel StreetDeck didn't quite curry any favours for NXWM, who would not return to Wrightbus until taking delivery of 20 StreetDeck Hydroliners for 'Platinum' services. Even then, I've heard those aren't doing so great and haven't been seen around very often.
Unfortunately the only decent shot of an NXWM vehicle I was able to get this time around - on the return trip, had we driven through Brownhills a few minutes earlier, I'd have gotten an ALX! - National Express West Midlands' 3304, a 2016 Wright StreetDeck named 'Alicia Lillian' (although it is missing from the front panel), is seen on Watling Street in Brownhlls West on route 10 to Walsall.
