This was taken a while ago at Trial Harbour on Tasmania's rugged west coast. The last image from this series was titled "closure" as it was meant to be the last of this series. I uploaded 'closure' during a creative block period and the circumstances for uploading this image are similar (stuck at my desk working hard and not getting out to take many photos). I always seem to return to these images whenever I am seeking photographic inspiration - I guess it's probably just a desire to return to this place to capture this such isolated and wild natural beauty.

The big countdown. We are ready to reopen our Sim "Where our Journey begins" and we will invite you to join our big re-opening Party tomorrow at Saturday, May, 29th 2021 11 pm SLT. The amazing Djane Darkrose and the wonderful voice of Aminius Writer will be there to entertain you. We would Love to see you around. Levin Pearl & Vivian Ewing

Pokrovsky Monastery in Kyiv is an Orthodox convent located at Bekhterevskyi Lane, 15. It was founded by the Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna Romanova on January 11, 1889. Construction of St. Nicholas Cathedral of the monastery began on August 21, 1896.

The first stone of the cathedral was laid by the Emperor Nicholas II, the second – by the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, the third – by the Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna. Construction of the cathedral lasted for 15 years.

In 1925, the convent was closed and partially destroyed. It was reopened after the occupation of Kyiv by the German troops in the fall of 1941. In 1943-1945, the monastery was used as a hospital, in 1945-1948 – as an infirmary. The cathedral gained its initial appearance only in 2006-2010.

The temple was founded on August 21, 1896 on a plot of land, a year before, specially allotted by the city near the western border of the monastery territory. The ceremony was attended by Emperor Nicholas II, who laid the first brick in the foundation. The construction was led by a special committee, which was first headed by His Grace Sergius, Bishop of Uman.

Mount Lofty Botanics in the Adelaide Hills is probably my favourite location here to shoot - especially in autumn. Its been closed off the last few weeks for safety reasons but reopened a few days ago. The full autumn colours have mostly gone sadly but there is still much beauty to be found.

For a long time we didn't dare to hope that our holiday plans would come true, as the island of Sylt was closed for tourists because of Corona.

But they reopened it two days after our planned arrival time. Now we are enjoying the fresh air, the sea, the beauty of this wonderful island. 💙

Well after a visit to Pier 39 we had our cruise to Alcatraz booked. Luckily the fog had lifted for the afternoon and we started our journey. According to Mr Trump it's soon to reopen?? I wouldn't want to stay there... Kris..

Although I am going to continue to work from home - our office is starting to have people return as we slowly reopen.

The Grand Hotel Atlantis was a magnificent place in a lovely ski resort somewhere in Eastern Germany. In the 1920s, the town flourished under the rise of tourist numbers when snow sports became vastly popular among the wealthy population. The first class hotel offered its guests a huge amount of leisure activities and when it was built it was one of the finest and most modern accommodations in the whole region. It was in a top quality location and beautiful to look at. As in the case of many facilities of the former GDR, the owner of this hotel changed after the German reunification. This was the beginning of the fall of Hotel Atlantis. The trust sold the building complex in 1991. Two years later it was reopened as a sports hotel. But the operators became bankrupt only a few years later. Since 1998 this place is vacant and rotting away.

Getting an early start but trying to avoid a late freeze as well...

Himeji Castle is a hilltop Japanese castle complex located in Himeji, in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan.

The castle is regarded as the finest surviving example of prototypical Japanese castle architecture, comprising a network of 83 buildings with advanced defensive systems from the feudal period. The castle is frequently known as Hakuro-jō ("White Egret Castle") or Shirasagi-jō ("White Heron Castle") because of its brilliant white exterior and supposed resemblance to a bird taking flight.

Himeji Castle dates to 1333, when Akamatsu Norimura built a fort on top of Himeyama hill. The fort was dismantled and rebuilt as Himeyama Castle in 1346, and then remodeled into Himeji Castle two centuries later. Himeji Castle was then significantly remodeled in 1581 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who added a three-story castle keep. In 1600, Tokugawa Ieyasu awarded the castle to Ikeda Terumasa for his help in the Battle of Sekigahara, and Ikeda completely rebuilt the castle from 1601 to 1609, expanding it into a large castle complex.

Several buildings were later added to the castle complex by Honda Tadamasa from 1617 to 1618. For over 400 years, Himeji Castle has remained intact, even throughout the extensive bombing of Himeji in World War II, and natural disasters such as the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake.

Himeji Castle is the largest and most visited castle in Japan, and it was registered in 1993 as one of the first UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the country. The area within the middle moat of the castle complex is a designated Special Historic Site and five structures of the castle are also designated National Treasures. Along with Matsumoto Castle and Kumamoto Castle, Himeji Castle is considered one of Japan's three premier castles. In order to preserve the castle buildings, it underwent restoration work for several years and reopened to the public on March 27, 2015. The works also removed decades of dirt and grime, restoring the formerly gray roof to its original brilliant white color.

Almost exactly a year ago, the date is January 17, 2020. The quaint Cascade town of Skykomish on the west slope of Washington's Stevens Pass is still without electricity nearly a week after getting cut off from the grid after a heavy winter storm that devastated the area with heavy snow and thousands of downed trees that fell on power lines, houses, & roads. The normally tranquil pre-dawn quiet of the mountain town is today filled with the labored hums and whines of an army of portable generators in varied sizes and shapes, set up around town to provide light and heat to the residents until the power lines are repaired.

The January 2020 storm had closed BNSF's route over Stevens Pass as well as State Highway 2 that parallels the rails route between Everett and Wenatchee. Between Gold Bar and Skykomish BNSF alone had over 600 downed trees to clear from their tracks with an addititional 200-300 that fell across the mainline in the roughly 10 miles section of mountain grade between Skykomish & Scenic.

After several days of around-the-clock work by BNSF maintenance forces Stevens Pass was finally re-opened on the evening of January 16 not too far behind WSDOT's reopening of Highway 2. With the tree carnage cleaned up or pushed aside enough to start running trains again, BNSF called a plow crew out of Everett for the following morning of January 17 to head up to Skykomish and work the snow dozer from there east over the hill to do some snow clearing.

Arriving at Sky about 0700am the crew got to work firing up the locomotives and clearing several feet of snow accumulation from the walkways. They then dug out the nearby switches to allow them to exit the spur track and get out onto the siding. From there they would eventually head east; more on that to follow...

Cecilia and I are excited to share that we have some wonderful things planned for the gallery this year!

2025 was so much fun as we reopened with three group exhibits. A huge thank you to all who participated, visited, and partied with us at our openings. We were incredibly surprised by the much bigger than expected response on Flickr when we brought over The Last Melody Challenge. Over 100 participants who shared their beloved (and very personal) music choices, and crafted wonderful images to accompany them.

You can see them all here in the The Last Melody Challenge group pool… From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You all. ❤️

And now, we will begin the new year with solo artists, starting in February.

Please stay tuned and keep an eye out for announcements.

We can’t wait to welcome you back!

Much love and the best karma,

Cecilia and Elizabeth❤️

Diners at a restaurant in Woodstock, Oxon, August 2020. I still cannot quite get used to the grain of the film; too used, perhaps, to the fine grain of things like Delta 100, and being able to pick out fine details after exposure. I like the effect; and am ... wising up to it, now.

Saturday Frank and Vitoria will be reopening their galleries. I have the pleasure of exposing a little collection of my pictures - please come join us at 1 PM slt with some great music - more information to come ❤️

Elizabeth and Squeaky and the "Buddy Breakfast" trio were some of the first in the door for Boolster's grand reopening. They wouldn't dare miss the chance to rush in to claim their favorite tables and catch up with old friends, meet some of the new employees, and just have a place to unwind away from the heat!

Lisa snuck all of my little people away while I was on vacation to have them dressed and ready for this big day....and then they unfortunately had to wait for me to not only return from vacation but also recover from a virus I caught before they could actually enjoy themselves!

... or not.

The Fox Oakland Theatre is a concert hall and a former movie theater, located in Downtown Oakland, California. In the 1920s theaters across the nation strived to be more than just a typical building. This theater's interior with rich colors and intricate gold accents resembles an Indian temple. It closed in 1965, was refurbished in the 2000s, and reopened as a concert venue in 2009.

I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Bear goes to pub when they reopened after lockdown. He drank 6 pints of real ale and threw up.

An impressive building in St Albans, not far from the Cathedral. I need to find out more about its history, but I am told that it is part of the Art Deco revival of the 1930s. The French bistro restaurant chain currently occupying the building will reopen its business here in May this year. However, quite a number of its branches will have to close due to the effects of Covid.

The Cafe (not this one, though) also plaid a role in my life. But that is another story.

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mei_Ho_House:

Mei Ho House (美荷樓), formerly part of Shek Kip Mei Estate, Hong Kong, is the last remaining example of a "Mark I" building in a single-block configuration. While the other buildings of the estate dating from the 1950s have been demolished, being replaced by new ones, Mei Ho House was chosen to be preserved and was reopened in 2013 as a youth hostel and heritage museum.
