Although rainfall seems to conspicuously avoid my rain gauge, the stormy sunset skies during Monsoon 2017 have been really beautiful - My Rooftop, Phoenix, Arizona

This is a self portrait I took at the little skatepark by my house. The camera is propped up on the ground. I shot this with a remote sensor on a 3 second delay. Needless to say it was very hard to get the timing right. Over all I'm happy with the result and had fun doing it. You might notice that my left had is closed tight that's cause I'm holding the remote. The title is the name of the trick.

Googlenetta - The 8 cameras on the roof of one of the cars used by Google to take photos of every house for Google Maps Street View. See the car here.
This car was un-marked and the hardware is different from other photos published on the web. For its production, Google subcontracts Immersive Media, which uses new VW beettles with a different, cheaper hardware.
There seems to be also wireless and GPS hardware under the cameras.

VIvitar had earned a lot of respect and attention for their full-featured 283 electronic flash system. Here the same basic concept is expanded with a "vari-sensor" and different power options.
Rooftop weather sensors and a colorful, stormy sky during the 2013 summer monsoon. Despite a slightly above average amount of rainfall here last year, most of Arizona remains stuck in a long-term drought. The precipitation outlook for late winter/early spring is not good. Sunny and 70 is nice, but I really wish my rain gauge had something to measure. - My Rooftop, Phoenix, Arizona

Google' also uses sub-contractor Immersive Media to take the street view photos. Immersive Media uses a new VW beetle exclusively, and a different hardware.

The summer monsoon causes weather geeks like me to get all excited. Last night's storm pummeled parts of the valley with heavy rain... all I got was a colorful sky, wind, dust and exactly 4 rain drops. - Weather Station ZD1, Phoenix, Arizona

The other day i stumbled upon a car driving around the city with a huge sensor apparatus on its roof, including a rotating system with a laser scanning everything on each side of the car.
The sensor hardware included LiDAR laser remote sensors, 360 cameras, a very accurate satellite positionning system, and a bunch of other hi-tech gadgets. The system was active and capturing huge amount of data. This a real, and Big Brother is watching you.
The car belongs to a digital mapping company called Navteq, and the Sensors System is made by a company called Topcon Positionning Systems.
It appears that Navteq is doing the mapping and street view photography for the Microsoft Bing search engine.

The two-day interactive workshop on 'Remote sensing and GIS, Science and Sensor' at Tulas Institute was a huge success. Civil Engineering students of second and third year were greatly benefited by it. They understood the nuances of geographic information systems and GPS in terms of practical applications. They also interacted with the distinguished speakers of the workshop. more information: tulas.edu.in
