As Autumn rolls in Greetings to all my Flickr friends and a little reminder of the months just past.
Mark your calendars for October Big Day—17 October 2020! Big Days are a 24 hour opportunity to celebrate the birds both near you and around the world.
In addition, this year’s October Big Day 2020 is happening during the first Global Bird Weekend. The goal of Global Bird Weekend is to make October 17-18 the biggest ever birding weekend and support BirdLife International’s appeal to end illegal bird trade. One of Global Bird Weekend’s aims is to have more than 25,000 people submit eBird checklists on 17 October—will you be one of them?

In May, I communicated with my friend Sue in Sussex as we counted birds from across the Atlantic! It is so much fun and very helpful to conservation efforts ;D

We"re hoping for an early spring here, I think! Don't know if we'll get it! ha! We've certainly had our share of low, low temps (-25 was our lowest, I believe), as well as a good dumping of snow! So we're ready for spring here in Wisconsin! This lily is just an early reminder of spring ahead!
You will notice, I've labeled this from the Rose Garden at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington. For a number of years now, they've taken to planting lilies at the center of their rose garden, surrounding their gazebo; and since I also love lilies, I always enjoyed that! Hope you enjoy, as well!

You say that you're no good for me
'Cause I'm always tugging at your sleeve
And I swear I hate you when you leave
I like it anyway
My ghost
Where'd you go?
I can't find you in the body sleeping next to me
My ghost
Where'd you go?
What happened to the soul you used to be?

Winter is trying to show its qualities, wet heavy snow is converting everything to the heap of ice right now. Yup, I don't envy the people, that have to drive tomorrow morning. So here's a golden reminder, autumn stays a favorite season...
I have a note in a bottle, it is not the best photo ever with subject "Behind Glass" but this is an important message to me under glass, maybe someone else will be smitten with it. "You will Discover New Strength In an Ongoing Battle" The longer the battle the more stronger, no battles and things get weaker.
A photo of an old fence and barbed wire in the snow taken just before dawn in Jasper County, Iowa. I hope you also enjoy my accompanying poem and regardless, have a Happy Fence Friday !!
In the hush of winter’s dawn,
A fence and wire stand forlorn.
Amidst the snow's serene embrace,
A peaceful stillness fills this place.
The fence and wire, a symbol strong,
Of strength and time, they've been here long.
But in the snow, they seem so frail,
A reminder true, that all things pale.
The frozen air, is so crisp and clear,
I hear their whispered secrets in my ear.
Of days gone by and tales untold,
Of relentless strength amidst the cold.
For though the snow can bring us cold,
It also brings a beauty bold.
So let us take a moment's rest,
And see winter’s beauty in its best.

In a way, these roses speak to me. They are talking about life, beauty, transitoriness, and about our duty not to waste this life we have got. What the prophet says I am not so sure. He has been for years outside in the garden, and nobody listens, it seems. His presence is a reminder nevertheless. Of what?

Have a wonderful weekend my friends, I am off for some days, I hope to see you on Monday :-)
We are the host – and for today and tomorrow. . . . I have things to take care of, share, enjoy and also learn from this very fun and special event, here:
Tall ships once graced the docks along this part of the river. Now we only have this ghostly reminder.
“Remember that you always have to cooperate with someone. Life is an endless negotiation. Play fair. Stay out of jail. Don't live in the past. Eat breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day. Try to make new friends, even when you think you're too old to do that.If you haven't said 'I love you' to someone today, do it. ..”
― Lisa Lutz
Ahhhh... breakfast!! ♥
Living in a comparatively small town has a lot of advantages, one of them is that you can be out in the countryside before the car heater warms up. This small series of connected ponds is the most picturesque in the early spring when it is ringed by fresh greens and then again when fall and winter are fighting for dominion. There is a little bit of both seasons in this photo, sun, ice, green grass and open water reflecting a most glorious chilly morning sunrise.
Tawny owl (Strix aluco) Had such an amazing experience with these owls, only visited them twice as not to disturb. But its definitely an experience I will never forget! Lighting was very tricky but still pleased with the pics. Hope your all well :)

Vitalic - Use It Or Lose It
Hello,
I'd like you to PAY* us a visit @ Nitroglobus Gallery for my latest Collection called "A Beautiful Collapse" (aka OhBoy).
2 words about what you'll see there...
A Beautiful Collapse is a satirical collection, a happy protest in a postapocalyptic key. Remember how full of color were our last days on Earth while we were clamping our touchscreens with a wide, manic grin? And how the Last Emergency didn’t arrive without reason. Nor did we move into the throes of it by accident. “There’s something therapeutic in looking at the apocalypse and laughing” (Colin Meloy). Oh boy, it's helplessness and hopelessness coming together. It’s Black Mirror, The Decemberists and Carolyn Baker.
I hope this shaking will keep you steady still,
nevereux
