For an enjoyable view, find a Reddish Egret and watch it for awhile. It will perform like few other birds, running around, stop-starting, raising its wings like an umbrella shading the water, crouching and stretching...all to "scare up" some fish for a snack.
I have seen other egrets mimic this behavior occasionally.
Looking close... on Friday!

This bee is one of many that visits our gardens on a day to day basis collecting pollen and giving us the opportunity to relish and hone our love of photography !

I've been checking the skies throughout the day, hoping for this, and a little before sunset, I stepped outside and into the rainbow.
The clouds were an added layer of wonderfulness.
I didn't even grouse about not having been near the Peninsula when this happened. It's right outside my front door. In fact, it looks as if the rainbow is shooting right into my bedroom through my roof. I'd better start looking for that pot of gold!
Supposed to rain again tonight, and though I've been "consulting" by working from home for the past couple of weeks (right after coming back from my trip) I'm back to retirement tomorrow, and am hoping for more great skies and one of my "trips around the Peninsula."
Still have lots of photos from the last trip to process, and I'm getting ready to finalize the particulars on my next trip, this time to Hawaii.
In the meantime, enjoy the rainbow.
I always relish seeing Kingfishers on my travels as I find them much more approachable than our single Kingfisher species we have here on the east coast of the US.
I have never been remotely successful in photographing our Belted Kingfisher. It seems that if I look sideways at them from 100 yards away, off they go in the other direction.
In fact, I'm confident that if I stood at the edge of a lake and muttered softly under my breath "Belted Kingfisher", every dang one of them within 1/4 mile would immediately take off for the next closest lake.
Given that, I was excited to finely arrange with Ron Bielefeld of Whistling Wings Photography for a morning photographing these wonderful birds.
Ron has a great setup with some small portable blinds that you setup in before sunrise and wait for the action to start.
it was a great experience that I am sure I will repeat the trip more than once. Highly recommended if you find yourself on the east coast of central Florida.
Many thanks to all who have taken the time to award, comment on/or select this image as a personal favourite. Cheers!

Goldfinches love my Giant Rudbeckias. These black-eyed Susans were volunteers that entered my garden several years ago and have bloomed reliably ever since.

A beautiful adult male Highland Copperhead (Austrelaps ramsayii) basks along the edge of Lake Eucumbene in the NSW High Country on a cool summer evening. He appeared to be at ease as he soaked up the rays. He was loathe to move off despite my close proximity.
Taken on a Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 DSLR coupled to a vintage Leica R Series Macro Elmar 100/4 lens with a Leitax adapter. Hand held @ f.4 with reflected side-lighting. I love my Leitz..
