Assyrian wall relief

645â635 BC, Reign of Ashurbanipal

From the North Palace, Nineveh, northern Iraq

This panel shows the Assyrian army attacking the Egyptian city of Memphis and commemorates the final victory of King Ashurbanipal over King Taharka in 667 BC. The gypsum panel was originally painted for the interior walls of King Ashurbanipal's palace at Nineveh. At the top,

Assyrians storm the fortress, trying to set fire to the gate and undermine the walls. Nubian soldiers, recognisable by the Single upright feathers on their heads, are being marched off as prisoners. Egyptian civilian prisoners are shown as a group with two children on a donkey. Below

is the River Nile With fish and crabs.

Out of the three photos I took from this position, this one worked out the best. The American flag at the far right and the Mexican flag at the left showed up better here than in the other two shots.

This is the Ether Monument (The Good Samaritan) in the Boston Public Garden. It commemorates the first public demonstration of inhalation anesthesia, which took place in Boston in 1846. The sculpture represents the desire to relieve pain when a loved one suffers.

Obscene incidents within the financial administration

Coming from San Marco, it's on the right-hand side of the Rialto bridge. Looking more closely, you'll be able to make out two fairly obscene reliefs that have in fact, a great deal to do with the history of the Rialto bridge: one shows a man with a disproportionately huge penis in the shape of a nail, the other shows a female figure with her intimate parts placed over a flame-spewing votive bowl. The two figures illustrated one and the same story surrounding the construction of the Rialto bridge. After the wooden bridge had rotted or burned down several times, in 1507 the city administration decided to erect a stone bridge across the Canal. Decades of arguments about financing and design ensued, spurring the residents of San Polo, consisting of prostitutes, market traders, vendors and craftsmen, to make sardonic remarks. The man would call out: "Sto ponte i lo finira quando ch'ecl casso fara l'ongia" (if this bridge will ever be finished my penis will turn into a nail), and the woman jeered an analogy: " Quando che i finisse el ponte, me chiapara fogo la mona" (if the bridge should ever be completed my vagina will catch fire). Both jibes were completely typical of the Venetian people of the time, forever incorporating obscenities into their jeering chants. Indeed, construction on the Rialto bridge started in 1588, and it was completed in 1591. Now the joke was on the local people, and the city administration used the two reliefs to show that the doubters were now due some "nails" or "flames".

It is DONE! I have officially completed shooting Volume Eight! I can finally breathe a sigh of relief in the fact that all scenes have been shot. And I also had time to re-shoot a scene with my little Skip. I really didn't like the way the original turned out but the re-shoot went great, minus a few hiccups ;-)

...also Volume Eight has officially been titled as of today. I had the roughest time trying to come up with a title this time around then eureka! it finally came to me, but more on that soon...

When you are in the field making pictures it's always nice to find a restroom, especially when they are only 850 feet away. Unfortunately, despite the need, these two relief stations might as well be on the other side of the moon. The 850 feet are straight down at the bottom of Canyon de Chelly. Navajo Nation, Arizona.

Many of the relief forms of Mangystau are most fully revealed only when viewed from a bird's-eye view. Even minor hills are laid out, creating interesting plot plans. However, in my opinion, shooting from a drone does not exclude, but complements the classic shooting from the human height level. West Kazakhstan, Bozzhira
