We went to Scotney Castle (National Trust) today, for lunch and a wander.

UP 1982 takes the honors of leading MNPSS through the woods in Rosemount on UP's Albert Lea Sub. It was a rather cloudy day and somehow I got the sun to poke out in time once the leader got close. The train spent a good three hours in Farmington to wait on MALNP.

Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery released a bald eagle back to the wild Sunday, January 12th, at 1:30 p.m. at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge west of Missouri Valley, Iowa.
This particular young female bald eagle was rescued August 3rd, 2019, from the Springfield, Nebraska, area. She was unable to fly and a Nebraska Game/Parks officer picked her up and brought her to Denise Lewis, Director of Raptor Recovery at Fontenelle Forest. The eagle was lethargic, thin and was missing all tail her feathers for an unknown reason. She has since regrown the needed tail feathers and is ready to be released back into the wild. Because she is a young bird,she was released at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge due to the large number of eagles that are present there. She will need the teaching and support of other bald eagles as she makes her way to adulthood.

I've been tagged by Phian & VincentDamiano and haven't had time to take another photo so here is an outtake from Day 51 (excuse the even more hysterical face) Anyhow I'll give you a few random facts about myself I guess!
1. I'm a complete fool when it comes to horror films, I typically run out screaming during the first ten minutes. I can't stand them.
2. I have never and will never smoke or touch drugs, I don't like what it can do to people. I'm not really interested in drinking much either.
3. I want to travel and do volunteer work in Vietnam and South America if I ever get brave enough to go over alone.
4. When I'm not taking weird photos I'm actually ridiculously shy, I violently shake when I have to stand up and talk to like 10 people :/
5. I'm REALLY tempted to not rebuy any of the stuff the insurance is covering and instead get a Canon 5d mark ii or hang on till Nikon release the D800 :P who needs clothes!
6. I have the unfortunate ability of pulling the most hideous/deformed faces possible whenever a camera is pointed at me, so I daily get left with about 3 usable photos from around 300. The rest are just hysterical :P
7. I eat far too much peanut butter, seriously, I get through like a jar a week.
8. I'm a part time rock climber/ trampolinist, I used to compete badly but the whole shyness thing meant I did a backflip off the trampoline :P
9. I love badly dubbed foreign movies like The Host and Battle Royale.
10. I am way too addicted to flickr and get all happy when I get a comment :P

With a few days of heavy rain, I spent a bit of TIME under my umbrella. I noticed the raindrops falling off the ends of the ribs, thinking it would require good TIMING to get a photo of one JUST as it released.
With modern technology including the fast 8 frames per second I can get from my Canon 7D, getting the perfect moment was just a matter of taking many many shots, and then picking out the one I liked best.
The difficult part was the overall darkness outside. It required a high shutter speed to "freeze" the drop and high ISO because of the darkness. I got a lot of blurry shots, and a lot of annoyingly grainy shots before settling on something in the middle.
