Wall myself and Rekso finished this weekend past in Parkhurst. Kept getting rained out but got that shit done. Shouts to the crew for coming together
Newtown bridge pillar with Kevin Love and Rekso, was a real fun impromptu afternoon. I enjoyed painting a fat character for a change, pity about all the construction trucks running around there but that's just that I suppose. Thanx to the dudes for jamming.
So I had a fun late afternoon with Kevin Love about a week ago, always cool to paint with him so many thanks indeed. Unfortunately you can't see it in this photo, but shouts going to Bias, Zesta and Rekso!
So on the wall adjacent to the 'Writers Never Die' wall (www.flickr.com/photos/jestr_sa/7020406189/in/photostream) some toys thought they'd be clever and grab themselves a prime-spot. Not on our watch. Not only should they have known that it's our wall, but also that we don't play.
We decided the morning that we started on the cardboard theme, we actually had another theme in mind which we'd been preparing for however Fury was away for the weekend and he's our boy so we didn't want to leave him out.
These guys in most parts of Gauteng (for those who aren't from SA) walk around our streets collecting all the cardboard and recyclables in order to survive. They receive alot of prejudiced due to the fact that they pull their trollies (and also to the fact that people have misconceptions deeply rooted but that's another argument) in the road and people feel they're endangering themselves and others. What people don't think about is that these dudes not only have no other means to survive because the system or themselves have have failed them, that they compensate for the incompetence of municipality waste-removal and that they compensate for the poor recycling habits of most South Africans. Not only that, but that the road is their only plausible means of navigating the city. We thought someone should just put it out there that people should be nice, because if it was you pulling that trolley and living that life you'd atleast appreciate to be treated equal.
We did it in intervals over a period of time as we've all been busy on independent projects and obligations so it's been kinda hard of late to come together as a crew, however Thursday was the day we decided to lace it.
Bias on the far right, myself and Rekso in the centre and on background, and Zesta on the far left
Rad tunnel mission with Bias and Rekso in Jo'burg, abit of an untidy one but it was fun. Thanx to Rekso for the beers, and to Bias for his couch!
So Rekso on the left, myself on the right. Also under that same Newtown bridge, Rekso and Zesta had this super nice skull with a 3rd eye and a landscape in it's mouth which stood for some time. Then some 'Mischa and Kinsani' decided they'd be retards and wrote their names all over the skulls face (Thanx Back to the City). Anyway so we couldn't let that crime stand, so Rekso and myself decided to clean it up by dropping these 2 dudes on here. Quick hour and a half session, love to the whole crew as always
