The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York delivers food to more than 1,000 agencies in 23 New York counties. It’s part of the Feeding America Network, which consists of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries that dot the United States. The network provides food to one in seven Americans. This Kenworth T370 collects donated food from eight to 12 supermarkets daily and brings it to one of two warehouses - a 62,000-square-foot building in Latham, or the food bank’s 55,000-square-foot warehouse in Orange County.

The L.A. Regional Food Bank served more than 1 million people in 2010, and expects that number to increase this year. The organization will use its $172,566 grant to retrofit old, inefficient lights in its warehouse and offices with new technology that is expected to use nearly 500,000 fewer kilowatt-hours of electricity a year. The food bank expects to save $53,593 a year on its energy bills, which it says is enough to provide 215,000 meals. Annual Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers’ Food and Fund Drive Raised More Than
1.2 Million Meals for Hungry Oklahomans
(OKLAHOMA CITY) – June 28, 2018 – During the month of May, 745,122 pounds of food and $153,776 were raised for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma through the annual Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers’ Food and Fund Drive.
“The donations raised through this annual drive will provide more than 1.2 million meals for chronically hungry children, seniors on fixed incomes and hardworking families across central and western Oklahoma,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “This drive is successful because of continued support from the community, sponsors, businesses, volunteers and letter carriers. Thank you for joining us in our mission of ‘Fighting Hunger…Feeding Hope.’”
More than 100 metro-area businesses held food and fund drives during the month of May to fight hunger. On May 12, letter carriers in 194 central and western cities collected food donations from mail boxes to benefit the Regional Food Bank and many of its community-based partner agencies.
On June 25, the Regional Food Bank recognized the following individuals and businesses for their support in fighting hunger through the annual Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers’ Food and Fund Drive:
•US Fleet Tracking- First place for raising the most pounds of food overall.
•Globe Life/ Globe Marketing Services – Second place for raising the most pounds of food overall.
•APMEX.com – First place for raising the most money overall and first place for raising the most meals by a company with 100 to 499 employees.
•American Fidelity – First place for most meals by a company with 500+ employees and second place for raising the most money overall.
•Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores - Second place for raising the most meals by a company with 500+ employees.
•Gateway Energy Services – Second place for raising the most meals by a company with 100 to 499 employees.
•The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber – First place for raising the most meals by a company with less than 100 employees.
•Feeding Hope Committee Chair and Co-Chair – Chair, Cashlie White, with APMEX.com and Co-Chair, Ben Stephenson with Dell EMC
•Letter Carriers’ Food Drive Chairs: Steve Riggs, Bob Bearden and David Miller

“We’d also like to thank Devon Energy employees for sorting the canned food donations collected in the metro area through the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive,” said Fitzgerald. “Through Devon’s ‘Stuff the Truck’ competition, employees loaded more than six tractor-trailers worth of food in one day! This helped us to get the food into the homes of Oklahomans living with hunger quickly and efficiently.”

In response to the Oklahoma tornadoes in May, on Saturday, June 8, 2013, actress and Oklahoma native Olivia Munn visited the Regional Food Bank and our Disaster Relief Distribution Center.
Mingle Media TV and our Red Carpet Report host, Kate Durocher, were on the red carpet for the premiere of CBS Films “Love the Coopers” benefiting the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank at the Grove in Hollywood.
In addition to volunteering at the LA Regional Food Bank, the cast and crew of the film made a significant donation which will provide 100,000 meals to those in need. Jessie Nelson, the director of “Love the Coopers” said, “At its core, “Love the Coopers” is about family and the love, laughter and spirit of giving that make the holidays so special. The Regional Food Bank welcomed students from the University of Central Oklahoma Dietetic Program. The students are working with the Regional Food Bank to assess and further improve nutrition levels of meals produced in our production kitchen for several of our programs, like the Senior Servings Program.
Students in the program are also working to create more nutritional resources for the Regional Food Bank's Healthy Pantry Certification Program.
