Despite recent improvements to the Park and Ride service including refurbished buses, free wi-fi and resurfacing works in the car park, use of the Sittingbourne Road site has continued to fall and with the council faced with a significant increase in costs the Sittingbourne Road Park and Ride site closed on Monday 8 February 2016 with the last service operating on Saturday 6 February. So now the once extensive Park & Ride network in Maidstone is now down to just two routes the 501 to Willington Street and the 503 to London Road.
Following the loss of the 506 the daily requirement for vehicles on the Park & Ride network was now down from five to four. This allowed 3964 GN04 UGB to be repainted into standard colours during February and by Valentines Day had been reallocated to Southend.
At the time resplendent in the new Maidstone Park & Ride livery and branding applied in 2014 to replace the long standing green and yellow, ARRIVA Kent & Surrey 3969 GN04 UGG is seen on Sittingbourne Road near Vinters Park as it approaches the Park & Ride site whilst working route 506. There was no contracts for this to be refurbished for, other than the upcoming 231 contract which takes some B9TLs from route 105, so I have no idea why this has been refurbished.

The smudge of stars at the center of this NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image is a galaxy known as UGC 5797. UGC 5797 is an emission line galaxy, meaning that it is currently undergoing active star formation. The result is a stellar population that is constantly being refurbished as massive bright blue stars form. Galaxies with prolific star formation are not only veiled in a blue tint, but are key to the continuation of a stellar cycle.
In this image UGC 5797 appears in front of a background of spiral galaxies. Spiral galaxies have copious amounts of dust and gas — the main ingredient for stars — and therefore often also belong to the class of emission line galaxies.
Spiral galaxies have disk-like shapes that drastically vary in appearance depending on the angle at which they are observed. The collection of spiral galaxies in this frame exhibits this attribute acutely: Some are viewed face-on, revealing the structure of the spiral arms, while the two in the bottom left are seen edge-on, appearing as plain streaks in the sky. There are many spiral galaxies, with varying colors and at different angles, sprinkled across this image — just take a look.
