Looking down the canyon you can see a little of the floor of Death Valley and the Panamint range from the chef's window. There were two stoves and 3 gas refrigerators in the camp.

Whenever we travel, we get a fridge magnet. However, since they don't stick to our new refrigerator, I have a magnetic bulletin board I put them on. Area photographed is 3 in wide x 2.25 in tall.

Just another oldie from more than a half dozen years ago. So far this is my only time railfanning the west coast region of Florida, and I did enjoy it and would like to get back to the Tampa area sometime.
Anyway this is just a simple shot with far less than ideal light conditions that has gotten better with age now that the classic old school Atlantic Coast Line era signals here are gone, having been replaced with generic modern safetrans.
This is CSXT local O854 headed north to Yeoman Yard behind a pair of big Gevos with the daily train of loaded Tropicana refrigerator cars from the giant orange juice plant in Bradenton. They are passing the Palm River hold out signal MP AZA 880.7 on CSXT's Tampa Terminal Sub and will shortly cross the 1000 ft bridge over the river and enter the city limits of Tampa and swing east into the yard only a mile away.

A delivery man carries a Samsung refrigerator on his back as he walks through the City of Shimla, India.
A woman from Gloucestershire renovated her terraced house and kitchen and ordered modern kitchen furniture. The delivery dates were not met, so at least the refrigerator combination was delivered to her in advance. However, this only worked partially.
After repeatedly requesting a replacement, to which there was no response, she informed the media that she would henceforth live in the refrigerator until the appliance and kitchen company delivered a replacement unit ... true story ?

Most of the path up winds back and forth over this tiny creek. The wind in the trees, the babbling brook and the glimpses of clean cool water definitely help mentally beat the heat.

Yes, that is the top of my refrigerator. I watched her contemplate her ascent and photographed tge blur of her jump! I was thinking about getting some cheese for a midnight snack but I don’t think I want a kitty on my head as she comes down.

I've noted before how deceptively cold it can be under the tracks. The cold and moisture lives in the concrete, basically giving you 2 walls of "frozen insulation". Great for keeping food longer, except for the rats and skunks that will eat it before it has a chance to rot.
The fact that there is shelter from the snow is the trade off. A structure will stay up so you can at least build a "house". That is, until the wind whips through with enough force to take everything apart.
The building/factory was shuttered in the 1990s due to intense competition from the Chinese. All operations were moved to Monterrey,Mexico. San Antonio,Texas. 7.16.2016.
My daughter bought a box of magnetic words for making up Shakespearean insults. These are my two faves.
I remember, when I was young, my cousin (I wanted to marry her in this age) told me the English word REFRIGERATOR and I was completly fascinated by the extraordinary sound of this. I repeated it thousand times and it became stranger and stranger. You have to know, that the German word for it is KÜHLSCHRANK, so you can imagine the exotic impact for me.

Raritan Central Railway leaser GP38-2 LTEX 5145 and 5107 are operating as train RC-1, seen here moving a single reefer through the Raritan Center business park where the railroad operates. Stencils are on for 5145 to receive the "RC" lettering, though the white paint has not found its way to this side of the locomotive.
