‘The Nuts & Bolts of the Digital centre’. Another walk around Shrewsbury Town with just my iPhone pretending to be a tourist! This window actually says “Film & Digital Media Centre” at the Old Market Hall…..

366 - I’ve decided to do this to force me to pick up a camera other than when we are away on our travels (they will be posted as normal) - I will be interested to see what transpires, they will be varied I’m sure so we’ll see where inspiration takes me over the course of the year, hopefully at the end of it I will be a better photographer. Feel free to critique as you see fit, but please don’t feel obliged, I anticipate they will not be to all tastes. Have a great year and if you also have embarked on a 365 project then good luck in seeing it through, Alan:-)

For the interested I’m growing my Shutterstock catalogue regularly here, now sold 36 images :- www.shutterstock.com/g/Alan+Foster?rid=223484589&utm_...

Things are going to change

The green bottle

Shot with NOMO Kodak.

Spirula spirula is a type of cephalopod related to squid and cuttlefish. It is not closely related to Nautilus or extinct ammonites. The structure is an internal and stores gas and acts as a buoyancy compensation device.

Live Spirula live in deepwater in the tropics. When they die their shells float to the surface. Ocean currents distribute them widely. This one was found at Jervis Bay on southeastern coast of Australia.

Enter the arena and hit the lights

Step up now you're in for a ride

This is war, ain't no fun and games

We get it up, you go down in flames

Heads I win, tails you lose

Out of my way I'm coming through

Roll the dice don't think twice

And we crush (crush), crush 'em (crush 'em)

Looking for trouble, now you've found it

You're a drum and we're gonna pound it

Pas de deux for spider shells

I don't often take self portraits, and I have not uploaded one here in years - but here are two recent ones. I could not resist the combined effect of a terra cotta wall and glass, creating a painting-like effect as if the image appeared on the wall or half faded into it. Cropped, no other editing. Playing with Slinkys series.

The structure is an internal and stores gas and acts as a buoyancy compensation device. The opening to the shell - the spiracle is visible. Gas is released through the spiracle.

Grass seeds on a glass table with a double reflection creating an impression of motion.

Anybody know what sort of grass it is?

Reflections Are a Tricky Thing

They are 180° out of phase

Reflections are also quite real

And tell a truth about what they show

Sometimes a reflection is a complement

Showing the beauty of a tree,

leaves moving with the passing wind.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon waiting for a bus ride home. A number of things drew me into this image but it was the reflections that really had the biggest impact. The two nearby trees with the glass reflecting back seemed to have that harmony of light and colors with greens of the tree leaves and the blues of the skies.

Some days, I just want the mind to shut down....to give myself a break....to find a little 'peace' of mind....to get a good night's sleep. What are you looking for....

Change is in the air

This is another Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) image. I shot it at night with light from the moon reflecting off of our solar hot water heater's glass vacuum tubes.

The only time she likes getting her picture made is when it is her idea. This was not. She begrudgingly glanced up at me, but I know she was much more interested in keeping her nose pressed against the glass to see if she could spot the monkeys. Although she didn't say, the look in her eyes said it all. "Mom, would you please stop taking pictures? Can't we just look in peace?"
