Australian Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus australis)

A surprise for me this morning at the Vic Uni Pond. I have never heard or seen a Reed Warbler at the pond before. And I still haven't heard one - this one didn't make a peep. Just lucky I saw a movement in the reeds and was able to track it for a minute or two.

GET DOWN LOW AND GO GO GO

Struggled for a title for this one, and these have been called "Reedy's Rocks" by some fellow flickr mates so I decided to run with that :)

Slightly different view from a previously posted shot. I much prefer the lower angle on this one. Hope you're all well!

Nature's altar at Proposal Falls

I had a plan to arrive at the park entrance and hike to this remote lake. Figured it would take 30 minutes tops. Ah but taking a short cut through the woods took me through rocks and fording creeks and dozens of spider webs but the delay made me arrive as the sun was first touching the west shore. The walk back was on the service road. Duh! Pretty close to peak season now for us and perfect weather is forecast all week so no excuse for not hiking every morning. Have a great Halloween week my friends!

Falls Park On The Reedy

Downtown Greenville, SC

This photo was taken from the "Liberty Bridge at Falls Park on the Reedy", which is a 355ft footbridge crossing the Reedy River and is curved to form an aerial amphitheater providing a spectacular view of the falls. It is supported by cables only on one side of the bridge so the view is not obstructed. The park is 32 acres and is located in historic West End district of the city.

I was unable to get the slow shutter speed to blur the motion of the water because of the movement of the bridge. This is a beautiful park and area and it was nice to see so much foot traffic in the downtown area.

Reedy Fork Creek at Bold Moon Preserve

River Stour, Flatford, Essex

I made this photo on my first visit to Long Creek, South Carolina on May 18, 2019. It was my second stop of the morning. Way back when, a long time ago, a developer had the notion of building a gated, residential community on parcels of land off Hwy 76 just south of the Chattooga River, near Bull Sluice. A beautiful stone wall was constructed with a steel gate at the entrance...then...all of a sudden...it all just stopped...Today, you simply pull off the highway and park beside the wall and hike behind the gate a short distance down to the waterfall. Reedy Creek is situated in a very private, secluded area of the forest and under the canopy of green trees is intimately shaded. For this reason, Reedy Creek Falls has a reputation of being a popular, frequented site for marriage proposals. When I was here, it was only about 45 minutes after sunrise and it was magical...

The Reedy River courses through the center of downtown Greenville, South Carolina. It runs under Main Street in fact. To the right is the Peace Center for the Performing Arts just off Main Street. There are miles of park and trails along the river.

Greenville is a lovely, vibrant city in western S.C. within sight of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The two mile stretch of downtown Main Street offers one of the liveliest street scenes in the U.S. with numerous bars, restaurants, shops and points of interest. Definitely worth a visit.

The city first formed here due to the falling waters that could power industry before steam power was invented.
