Pacific coast beach in northern Humboldt County, California. Long exposure processed with Lightroom and Photoshop.

The giant redwood trees in Redwood national park. The hikes in this park are really wonderful.

Shot handheld using the OM-1, taking advantage of the awesome image stabilization, 1/6 second and the image is very sharp. Also used the built-in HDR mode which managed to keep colors in the sky and the parts of the trees at the top.

Me standing by the Big Tree in Redwood National Forest. Almost 300ft (87 meters) tall, and about 1,800 old. Pretty amazing. The trail has many trees like this one.

20 km north of San Francisco, at the foot of Tamalpais Mountain and adjacent to the Pacific coast, is the sequoia forest called Muir Woods.

The hikes in the Redwood National Park are really nice.

Shot with the OM1, the image stabilization is really handy as it is pretty dark because the trees are so tall. I was able to shoot handheld with a 1/8 sec shutter speed, and the image is very sharp. You can see that my wife is blurry because she was walking on the bridge, but the rest is sharp.

The redwoods are really big, so fun to see. It is quite dark, so the image stabilization of the OM-1 was very handy. I was able to keep ISO low, and have the shutter speed be 0.5 seconds, and the image is still very sharp.

Big Basin is California's oldest State Park, established in 1902, earning its designation as a California Historical Landmark. It is part of the Northern California coastal forests ecoregion and is home to the largest continuous stand of ancient coast redwoods south of San Francisco. It contains 10,800 acres of old-growth forest as well as recovering redwood forest, with mixed conifer, oaks, chaparral and riparian habitats.

Some of the beautiful redwood trees with a little reflection going on in one of the streams that can be found at this location in the Tararua Forest Park.

Redwoods Forest is a forest of naturalised Californian coastal redwood on the outskirts of Rotorua, New Zealand. The 6 hectares (15 acres) stand of Californian Redwood trees were planted at the beginning of the 20th century as part of a programme to assess the viability of various exotic tree species for commercial forestry in New Zealand. Subsequently these trees have grown faster than in their native homeland due to the richer soil and higher rainfall in the area, reaching over 70 metres (230 ft) height only 100 years later. The stand of trees is now protected and has become very popular for recreational use.

Looking up from the base of a double redwood tree in Rotorua, New Zealand, within the Whakarewarewa Forest. These are actually California Redwoods that were transplanted here and the conditions are ideally suited for them so they've grown incredibly well. It's a cool experience to stare up at 200+ foot tall trees.

Muir Woods National Monument is a United States National Monument managed by the National Park Service, named after naturalist John Muir. It is located on Mount Tamalpais near the Pacific coast, in southwestern Marin County, California. It is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and is 12 miles (19 km) north of San Francisco. It protects 554 acres (224 ha) of which 240 acres (97 ha) are old growth coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, one of a few such stands remaining in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Redwood tree, Sheffield Park Garden

This was my favorite spot in the redwoods. It was visually beautiful, tranquil and the light streaming thru the trees was exceptional. This trail has some of the oldest redwoods in California. Redwood trees can be 28 ft. in diameter and 300 ft. tall. This photo doesn't showcase the larger trees, but is exceptional with other beautiful qualities.

This is a 5 shot pano photo rather than one wide shot.

This shot is from a motorcycle trip through the Avenue of the Giants, a scenic highway in Northern California, running through Humboldt Redwoods State Park. It contains several of the tallest trees in the world. These trees are magical. From what I've read, thankfully, The Avenue of Giants and Humboldt Redwoods State Park are not immediately threatened by the California wildfires.

Scene from Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park in California, which probably is my favorite redwood park, with tones of wonderful hikes. Captured with an old Sigma Super Wide 24mm lens. (K1BD5424)

It is difficult to get close enough to a branch to photograph it as they are so far off the ground! The pinecones and fronds are so delicate and tiny! Amazes me.

Hard to believe there are places still like this left. So peaceful and quiet. Redwood National Park, California.

In 1926, San Francisco Hotel heiress, Margaret Stewart, commissioned renowned architect Julia Morgan to build this country estate, today known as Redwood Grove. The estate was part of a planned 1,290 acre resort community by the Benbow family.

Today, Redwood Grove has been conscientiously restored to the historical detail and grandeur characterized by Julia Morgan. Her design hallmarks included painstaking attention to detail and craftsmanship, which incorporate the owner’s private collection of art and antiques.
