On June 5, I had a great opportunity to tour Ball Corporation aluminum packaging at the facility in Campbell Industrial Park in Kapolei. I visited their plant, met their employees, and learned about aluminum packaging at the facility as it relates to sustainability. Reducing single-use plastics is a huge priority of mine. As the #1 beverage container in the world, aluminum cans are a viable alternative to single-use plastic beverage containers. Did you know that metals are infinitely recyclable and within 60 days aluminum can be recycled and be back on the store shelves?! In Kapolei, 40 people work at the manufacturing plant. Here’s some interesting facts I learned while there:

• They made 220 million aluminum cans last year.

• They make 1,200 cans per minute and 1.6 million a day.

• They make cans from Tuesday to Friday-- employees only have to work 3 days a week.

• 68% of their can material is recycled.

• The Kalaeloa plant is the smallest can plant in the world.

• Aluminum cans have a shelf life of 50 years

• They ship in 10,000 pound spools of aluminum from a plant in Louisville Kentucky

• They’re working on making an aluminum version of the solo cup

Ball Corporation, founded in 1880, is the world’s largest aluminum beverage and aluminum aerosol can maker. They employ 18,300 people in 90 manufacturing locations with operations in North and Central America, South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

We are really excited to announce Conatural’s new project. As part of our commitment to sustainability and reducing single use plastics, we are now the first cosmetic company to use Refill Stations for our liquid products in Pakistan.

Our pilot project begins at Davaam Life in Karachi tomorrow. We’re giving out free shampoo - our new variant called Conatural Hair Growth Shampoo- at the refill station. Take any used bottle to the store and experience our refill station free of charge.

The refill station also works with a RFID tag and so is completely cashless making it more pandemic friendly.

With this pilot project, we hope to learn to make our customer experience seamless and then roll out these stations to all major malls across the country.

We truly believe that we need to leave our planet in a better condition for our children than when we found it. This is a small step and our contribution in making Pakistan more pro-recycling, reducing wastage and changing consumer behavior to adopt more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
