Uh, yeah, after setting up, working the show both during the day AND at night for a few days and then tearing it all down, this tends to be the result.
Poor little Rocky Mountain-guy, and all he wanted was his bike boxes so he could pack them up and go home.
Eric's bday today -- who needs Hallmark? Coffee bean booze bag, skeleton fabric and a nylon mesh produce bag, a Powell's bag, a 2004 calendar page, Ikea craft paper, and thrifted and saved ribbons. #reducereuserecycle

Ah, Mr Stacey's and their most excellent adverts! Our local indy video rental shop. There's also a poster for their student scheme, which says suitable ID is "NUS card, University card, pot noodle stained Che Guevara t-shirt" !
I great art supplies organizer! I covered it in clear packing tape to make it stronger and last, I also filed in holes in the bottom with cardboard!

Reuse instead of producing waste.
There are many alternatives to disposable plastic straws.
"Halm" makes some of the best industrial glass. "Doras" offer some of metal. At the moment there are some in Germany at Tchibo out of reuseable plastic. All of them you can put in the dishwasher, or clean it with a small brush. And, surprice, there are straw back which out of *drumms* straw, eg. "Strohmi".
Google "straws alternative utopia" for some more options.
Also, you can use travel cutlery to e.g. to eat without the plastic forks and spoons at the Street Food shops.
And of course Coffee To Go, drink it from your own ceramic or plastic cups. With the foldable coffee cups there is no excuse anymore that it is too difficult to carry a cup. :-)

We visited our county's recycling center today. This is just one town's worth of the 19 towns they collect from.
For my last photography assignment, i was to pick a photo journalist, emulate his/her style, and pick a topic in society that i could compose a 6 picture photo essay on.
Having just gone on a recycling tour at Penn State and with Earth Day quickly approaching, i thought it would be appropriate to do an essay on Penn State's waste management and recycling efforts.

On most days there was an arts and crafts session for the children on the island. I didn't see this one in progress, but the rocks were piled around a tree near the pool. One day's activity was painting on the beach and I totally would have asked to participate, but I didn't find out about it until the end of the session.

End table with drawer. the top is made of Douglas Fir flooring from the customer's old house. The base is from an old Singer sewing machine. The body of the table is made from old white pine shelf boards reclaimed from an old house. Everything except the screws, glue and brads is reclaimed material.
The flooring material the top is made of was uneven. I didn't want to cut off the tongues and grooves because they wanted it to look like the old floor...and I wouldn't have enough material for the top. I joined them together, holding them with plywood underneath. To even the top I planed the high spots and then belt sanded it. this took off the old patina...but that will come back in time as it is exposed to sun. the edge was routed with a 1/4 in roundover.
The box was made of old shelf boards. the shelves were joined together with wiggle fasteners. I thought these would look cool as a design element and cut the boards to include them. all the holes and marks are from 100 years of use.
The whole thing was sanded and varnished with satin polyurethane. The top was sanded down to 400 grit to get a nice finish. it was a fun challenge.
Thanks to the tight turning radius of my Mini Clubman, I spotted this birdcage on the other side of the street atop the trash. A quick U-turn, pop open the barn doors and voila - it's mine. It need some restoration work but will be an interesting piece either in the summer garden or even as a photo prop.
